Today i was play with my cat diva , who is a black and white domestic cat. After a while she started flicking her tail around and then began huffing and puffing like a dog....it was really weird.

Is this normal for a cat?
What else could she have been doing?
Or does my cat have a breathing problem?

No, no breathing problem .. shes just fine! =)

Actually, 2 of my 7 cats do this! They get either REALLY angry or REALLY playful .. then let out a big huff and puff like they're so fed up haha. Its wonderful. Cats are great. ♥

My siamese would 'puff' at me if he was really excited about his toy when I was playing with him but it would only be two puffs whiffled at me.

My gray guy will whuffle in his sleep when he's really having a bad dream, he moans after that, so I try to wake him up gently.

And we did have a young cat who was running around like crazy the first day we got her who suddenly laid down and panted, out of breath when she shouldn't have been. Her gums were white so I got her in to the vets, who determined she had asthma brought on by high activity. She was put on prednesone for a month and that cleared it up for her (we were fortunate, it fixed itself).

So yes, I've hard it from three different cats, for three different reasons.
