Naturally, what you practice, your children will also practice it. But if you consider this a "dumb" religion, then don't bother give it to your children. You would just be a hypocrite then. Having religion for the sake of having it.

If you do not believe in this religion, find a religion that will make you happy. If not, then don't. Start with yourself first. As for your kids, if you're settled into a religion, you can try and teach them that religion. If you're not settled with a religion, then give them the free hand to put themselves where they will make themselves happy.

All religions are dumb since there is no personal god. If you don't want your children to have the religion you grew up with then raise them without any religion. They will go their own way when they grow up.

I'm not concerned that you would pass on a so called dumb religion to them for you obviously didn't learn anything from it anyway to pass it on.

I'm more concerned about your hatefulness towards others that you will pass on as a parent.

No! You should let them learn about all different religions and non religious spiritual beliefs, and every other belief system, whether you agree with it or not. Tell them that they must find their own answers! The only true path to God is the individual path that can only be found by seeking within. *sm*

How about not pushing your religion on them (which you admittedly consider is dumb) and allow them to grow up to be free, independent thinkers without subjecting them to religious dogma? Then they can make their own decision about what they believe in an intellectual manner.

Your children will find out about the dumb-ness sooner or later... Question is... Do YOU want to be the one that they disdain for forcing it on them?
