The Qu'ran says Jesus is the Messiah...How is this different than other prophets? Isaiah said the Messiah would atone for sin. Chrsitians believe the Messiah atoned for sin. Why do Muslims believe God needed to send the Messiah? How is The Messiah different from the other prophets?

Syed...If it was the Same why would Allah tell you Jesus was The Messiah? Why wouldnt Jesus simply be a prophet?
Isaiah knew the maning of the coming of the Messiah...Christians sure know the significance of the prophsies about the Messiah...I am seriously wondering why the Muslims need a Messiah if they do not believe in the prophsies of the Messiah?

Jenn wheter you believe in the true word of God or not...Your own Qu'ran refers to Jesus as THE Messiah not a Messiah!

Jenn, Can you show me in the Qu'ran where there is more than one Messiah?
because if you can I can definitely show you a contradiction in your perfect book...It definitelys ays THE Messiah when refering ot Jesus.

Yes Dust...I wonder why Muhammad did not know the prophsies of the Messiah, especially the ones of Isaiah 53?

Jenn how is Muhammad being illiterate a miracle? He could not have transcribed unless he was able ot read?
I think I would recosider my idea of miracles...Jesus raised the dead...this too is in your Qu'ran.

Space why not read the bible for what it says? Isaiah 53 clearly says the Messiah will aotne for sin wiht his blood...If you read the word of Jesus in luke yous ee him refer to Isaiah 53 as the prophsey he must fufill. Messiah does mean Anointed one...The Christ the anointed one... What does this mean? Is it simply a word with no meaning?Jesus is simply a prophet but God decided to give him a nmae with no meaning? If we read the Bible the words of the prophets we see that the Messiah was waited on to be a deliverer...He would atone for sin, If these are the prophesies of the Messiha why does the Qu'ran teach Christ is the Messiah...and deny what the Messiah was sent to do? If Jesus was merely a prophet why call him Messiah at all? Why doesent the qu'ran explain why Jesus is called the Messiah?

Again with the same questions. There where many Messiahs at this time the Jews said Jesus would be the king of Messiahs. The leader. Muslims believe Jesus(pbuh) he is a prophet of Allah(swt). He is nothing more then that and those he say he is are liars. In Islam there is also a Messiah Al-dajjal who will lead people into the darkness and to sin. Would you Christians say he is god or the son of god? Before you start making accusations you should learn Arabic and read the Quran. Not some bs translation that is catered to people like you to mislead people from Islam.
The Jews later rejected Jesus(pbuh) because many people started worshiping him. In Arabic there is no word saying Christ. So, the Jews reject Jesus(pbuh) and are still waiting for their Christ. Who by the way will not be considered the son of God or God but as a leader. This is what is meant by Messiah someone who leads. The term of Christ is not Hebrew or Arabic. It was what the Greeks who wrote your bible used for the term Messiah and Christ more closely means someone appointed by God for a task, such as a 'high priest', 'leader', or even 'ruler'

If you also think you know Islamic history you would know that Prophet Mohammed(pbuh) was illiterate. Meaning he did not read nor did he write. He was not educated. So this as you see is also one of the miracles of the Quran.

Jesus is the Messiah (Isa al Masih) according to the qur'an. But there is no significant meaning of atoning the sin in the word messiah. Messiah came from the word masaha which means to rub or to anoint. The bible clearly states that the word or title MESSIAH can be applied to a pillar (read the bible in hebrew please) genesis 31:13; to a tabernacle leviticus 8:10; to a horn 1 samuel 2:10 and even the pagan king Cyrus was called a messiah isaiah 45:1. Where on the earth and the scripture that it says the messiah will atone the world of its sins? And if there is, what or who is this? A pillar? A tabernacle? Cyrus?
The teaching of the church, or the congregation you belong to often times take biblical teaching according to their OWN INTERPRETATIONS. Why not read the bible directly? Why not read it in Hebrew or Greek? Why not read the different bible versions? Muslims do not take the english translation of the qur'an as the qur'an because there are many instances that translating a book to another takes away the soul of that book. So we read and still retain the arabic qur'an. Whatever mistakes the translations will have, no worry because we have the original arabic. But what about your bible? How can you be sure that what you are reading in english is the same with the original?Oh sorry...Bible scholars will tell us that there are NO BIBLE ORIGINALS LEFT. So how do you ascertain which is original and not if the original is lost?
We believe in Jesus as the Messiah, the anointed one, the prohet of great caliber. But we don't believe that he was to atone us of our sins.Even the bible you are using is clear in this: read Ezekiel 18:20-21. No where in the bible it says that the title messiah means atoner of sins.

djmantx , The teachings within the Quran would now not be extra transparent on Jesus being the Messiah . In which enhances & verifies the Holy Bibles teachings on this as good . For when you wouldn't have the Holy Spirit stay in you , then you're blind without knowledge of the smallest main points . You via Gods Grace are doing well paintings therefore some distance on this subject . Thank You to your perseverance . I have learn the Quran years in the past & didn't deliver it a moment notion . But now following a few of your discussions has me go reference the Quran & Holy Bible in doing so . I discover it tough that the fans of the Quran cannot see the useful fact in what you've got dropped at their concentration . I additionally see what God supposed via the harding of ones Heart and rejecting fact . Which brings separation from God & the entire teachings that comply with in doing that as good . It is self obtrusive as two+two=four . May God Bless you wholly on this , amen......

PICKTHAL: (And remember) when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a word from him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, illustrious in the world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (unto Allah).

Jesus(PBUH) is a Prophet from God.
