i addopted a 10 month old puppy. i didn't know she had worms till i brought her home. i live in wichita falls texas and bought her from oklahoma. they are apparently called round worms. i called the people i got her from when i saw her take a poop and they said they were treating them. i went out and bought a de-wormer. other than buying a de-wormer and going to a vet does any one have any answers? don't answer my question if you are going to do so by insulting me and my abbility to take care of my pets, i have others and they are fine. i don't know what to do about her!!! her name is abby and she is part husky, part australian sheppard. i am worried!!! please help.

Hi little hick, you need to try alternative worm treatments. I was recommended Drontil when I got my puppy but it just didn't work with my dog - there are many on the market. Perhaps your vet can suggest a good alternative

what kind of worms?
Puppies are generally infested with intestinal parasites, they are born with them. They get them from the mother. They are easily treated with some medicine from the vet.. you can take in a stool sample to determine what type of worm exactly and the vet will prescribe the right medicine.
Coughing and shortness of breath does not come with intestinal parasites. This could be heartworm, or something else going on, allergies, kennel cough, heart problems etc. She needs to see a vet. A simple blood test will rule out heartworm. If she is negative, then put her on a HW preventative right away. If its positive, its treatable, but can be expensive.

ASK A VET.
It really depends on the type of worms. Some are worse than others, and some do no harm at all. No matter how many come out in poo, there will still be heaps inside. Usually all you have to do is buy de-worming tablets from the vet. Does not matter how long they have been there, they can still be getten rid of!

Why did you buy the dog in the first place? Get off your lazy butt and take it to a vet and demand that the people you bought from pay for everything that it costs to get rid of the worms.

Take her to the vet as soon as you can. They will determine what kind of worms she has, and give you the most effective treatment for them. You can buy OTC wormer but unless you know what kind of worm, then you're just giving unnecessary medication. Good luck!

you need to deworm her!
the pooping them out means that she still has them inside her, who knows, it might be the kinds thats contagious to you or little kids!
its too late if you wait too long. the worms might consume her body and eat up the nutrition you're trying to give her. she might be losing weight or will not grow or will grow with health defects like blindness and such.
GO TO VET IMMEDIATELY!! the vet can get xrays to see if the puppy is still able to be saved.
WHY DID YOU WAIT SO LONG?!
most puppies have worms when they are born. that is why one of the first shots/medicine they recieve is a deworming medicine. i suggest you DO NOT give it to your dog by yourself. have a pro (vet) do it for you

the sooner they worms are taken care of the better your puppy will do. you should take it to the vet asap...possibly an er if shortness of breath...the parasites could be taking away blood and causing shortness of breath.

Congratulations for your new dog! To train the dog to obey instructions you need to be regular. Always use the identical word or phrase and continually talk within the identical tone of voice. Speak on your typical voice. Do now not yell. Yelling frightens the dog and won't train him/her a factor. You would possibly feel that it does, when you consider that simply as an instance say the dog has performed anything that he/she is not meant to do and also you end up pissed off with Puppy and also you yell "No". The dog will transfer clear of you and you can also feel that you've got taught him/her anything and this would possibly not occur once more. Well, you might be part proper. You have taught the dog anything by way of yelling at her/him and that's to be frightened of you when you consider that the dog would possibly not comprehend why you are yelling. Please talk in a typical voice or a gentle voice while you talk to the dog. In order to train the dog the command "No" first made up our minds what the dog can do and what the dog is not meant to do. Some of that is visible to you and your loved ones. Some is probably not you probably have youngsters reminiscent of you do not desire the dog at the furnishings when you consider that it (the furnishings) gets soiled and it is going to get puppy hair. After you identify along with your loved ones what's O.K. for the dog to do and what isn't O.K., then every person must use the identical phrase or phrases to train the dog. Puppys gain knowledge of by way of repetition. Just preserve at it and beautiful quickly you're going to have a exceptional good behaved dog. Also, please don't hit the dog--regardless of a rolled up newspaper. People say that when you do that the dog or the puppy is not going to companion it with you however this isn't real. The dog can see who's protecting that newspaper. If you desire to subject the dog you must now not hit or yell. I had a dog that I crate informed and while she might now not obey me after frequently, then I might positioned her in her crate for what's referred to as a "day trip." I might now not positioned her within the crate after which positioned her in a room by way of herself--she might have felt deserted. Instead I positioned the crate within the room with me and I sat and talked to her till she calmed down after which I instantly allow her out. You would possibly do this. As to educating the dog to not chunk, and to not bark-- puppys bark--that is typical however to train her to give up barking, simply talk on your typical voice and inform her "No" or "Be particularly" or "Hush" or anything like that. As a long way as trainer her to not chunk, first be definite that the individual isn't teasing the puppy. Biting is likely one of the methods that puppies and puppys have of protecting themselves. If the individual had now not teased the dog, simply talk on your typical voice to the dog and inform him/her "No" or "The postman is our pal" or anything alongside those strains. This will take awhile, however puppies are intelligent. Keep at it as I mentioned previous and beautiful quickly you're going to have a good-mannered dog. I nearly overlooked the final side of your query. Since the dog is white a few names probably Snowball Frosty (male) Also you must make a record of names that you simply like and names that swimsuit the dog. Take a couple of days and watch the dog and you're going to detect the dog's persona and you can also desire to make a reputation from a attribute that he/she has. For example, I had a combined breed terrier. The identify she had while I first received her was once entirely irrelevant. I made a record of names that I preferred and I watched the dog and I spotted that she walked like a woman and held her head identical to a woman and so my new dog grew to be Lady.
