I would like to know if it is worth buying one. I am not worried about insurance costs but am more concerned with parts. Tyres etc. What kind of driving experience is it? I have wanted one forever and would really like to test drive one, but the non turbos are very rare and are usually left hand drive imports from Japan. (im in England and left hand drive is difficult when over taking). I would love to hear from you wherever you are.

Sorry about the Japan mistake. I don't get out much. I just love Nissans. Ive had a 2 litre primera sx for a long time and previously a 1600LX and 2000 estate. Didnt like the estate much though and gave it to my O/H. I love the sound, the feel, the handling, the shocking acceleration (for a standard car) and the look. I'm also looking for a targa 100nx as a fun car. I found one I liked, but scotland was too far away from Norfolk. I will let you know (loudly) when I have my first coupe.

I have a 1993 Nissan 300 ZX convertible, which of course is a non-turbo. It drives like a dream. It's a 5-speed stick. I have had no major expenses, just routine maintenance. It is black on black with a charcoal leather interior -- it turns heads wherever we go.

The last time I bought tires the set was maybe 25% more expensive than the tires I put on my Toyota Corolla sedan -- about $500 US.

It is classified as a large sports car by my insurance company, so I am paying a bit more than I would for a family-type car, but I combine the insurance of both my cars -- the Corolla brings the cost of insuring the Z down.

I highly recommend the 300 ZX. If you have always wanted one, go for it. As you know, they're rare and getting rarer.

Dont panic Japan is right hand drive same as the UK.

The older 200sx came as a 1.8 turbo engine s13 model
whilst the newer models s14 s14a where the 2.0 l engines turboed again but if memory serves me there are some non turbos out there.

I had the s13 a good few years back and my brother drives it till this day.It is a great car and gave me lots of fun.Not to bad on petrol at all.Corners great although watch the wet.But the same with all rwd cars.Lovely flip lights still a head turner even at its age.
Myself i like the s13 and the s14a.
The 300zx drove the z31 great fast fun but to me it felt heavy to drive.
The z32 looks great and still a head turner,Its fast and very big.Although i have been told to watch the petrol but why buy these cars if thats going to be an issue.
Dont worry about Nissan auto boxes,i hate autos but now on my second one and love it compared to other cars i have driven.
If your not worried about insurance why not look also at the Nissan Skyline again theres the turbo and non turbo versions.Great fun cars to drives real head turners and great fun all round. And a which a change of styles through its years also.

If its parts your worried about theres plenty of clubs out there, for these cars and the members will point you in the right direction. And with the net itseasy to source parts out.
Iam on my 3 rd import and never struggled for parts.

I have owned both a 1.8 turbo 200sx (S13) and both turbo and non turbo 300zx's

Parts are no problem and there are lots of specialists around with vast knowledge to pass on. The only trouble I experienced were related to corrosion (sills) and once a drop of water got into the ABS relay and stopped it working.

I did around 30,000 in each car with nothing more than regular servicing. Apex performance were a gold mine of info and stocked some juicy parts!

Just bite the bullet and buy one. On a t bar don't touch one that leaks...a good one never leaks!......look at sills and under boot spoilers etc for hidden corrosion as its a Nissan's worst enemy.

All in all great cars and all are great fun........rarer manuals are more fun to drive but my turbo 300 was an auto and went like greased weasel poo!

Tyres etc were never a problem, I just fitted Toyo's all round.

Japan is a right hand drive country so buying jap spec isnt a problem either.

I work for Nissan and would recommend a complete used car from Japan or Australia. 1996 was the last year in the USA however if you were to get a 1999 Nissan 300zx from Japan would be a great find right hand drive. Don't even mess with 4 cyl cars. The 300ZX is a luxury touring car worth fixing up as a keeper.

I had a turbo 200SX S14 and it was one of the most fun cars i have ever had until i crashed it. I've had a lot of fast cars and the Nissan was by far the most fun, and considering that i now have an Audi RS6 plus that's saying something. i wouldn't think the non turbo would be the same, you would just think you were missing something.

For what that is worth, I had a 1984 300ZX and it was once many of the problematical vehicles I ever owned. an component of it truly is thinking the reality that a individual had used elementary water in the cooling technique long adequate to rust and corrode it - I notion i ought to preserve the harm yet I via no ability even gained close. The engine was once ruined via the corrosion. If there's a hint of rust interior the radiator of any motor vehicle, run away. the different maximum crucial concern became as quickly as electric intermittents in the process the motor vehicle. I hunted down and incessant approximately 30 intermittents, alongside with the single on the ignition coil connector that made it die for at anyplace from a fraction of a 2d to 10 minutes at a time, just about one thousand situations over the era of a pair months. It was once lots extra demanding than it sounds. in all probability the main 2 secure practices modules additionally became intermittent (undesirable solder connection), stranding me dozens of situations till now than I figured it out. the european gained extraordinary and desperate the engine wasn't strolling, allowing me to force for one minute precisely till now than it killed the engine and necessary to be restarted with the biggest - re-clutching did not help. The intermittent window substitute became available. The intermittent lights furniture, heater controls, battery connections.... once I traded the motor vehicle in, some intermittent interior the $2000 harness that went to the european became as quickly as making it choke on idle, and that i became as quickly as so extremely joyful to do away with that mess i'd have given it away. relaxing adequate to rigidity in spite of the incontrovertible fact that a nightmare to very own.
