It can take up to a year for the pain to completely stop. I had my bypasses (5) done Oct 4, 2006. Sometimes when I cough or sneeze I still have very mild pain. I'm 47.

I bought a bike after my surgery. I began riding it after he released me from his care. That was after only 10 weeks (2 1/2 months). Generally after 8-12 weeks any thing is "OK". But this can depend on your physical conditioning and any complications. You should always ask your doctors advice before starting any exercise program no matter your condition. Always be very careful following major surgery.

Good Luck,
Terry

No doctor gives guarantee that you will not have re-clogging of artery after the bypass. There are several cases where the patient had to undergo second bypass. It is very very important to take enough care post surgery. In bypass, the surgery is not important. The post surgery care is more important. Consult your Cardiologist who is the right person to guide. There are very good Ayurveda medicines such as Rudved/Cardoved/Suved/Slow Gold etc. which will work as a prophylactic without any side effects.

Three months after surgery, you should have healed enough for the incision not to be painful. If you have redness or pain in the area of the incision, call your doctor promptly.

As for exercise, talk to your doctor, don't guess! Each person is different.

Most hospitals have a well organized follow-up program for patients who have had heart surgery. Talk to your doctor and get a referral to that program.

If she/he says you may ride a bike, approach exercise sensibly, start slow and increase as you can tolerate it.

Always rest if you get tired, and be patient with yourself, you do not need to run a marathon next week do you?

Rain could be risky as a results of fact the brakes would be much less responsive besides as street surfaces being extra slippery and there being much less visibility. yet whilst one is careful, it truly is done. If i will help it, I stay out of the rain. yet from time to time for the period of an prolonged experience, it won't have the ability to be helped to be caught up interior the rain. As for the bicycle itself, that is not great for the bike as a results of fact rain makes dirt and dirt & sand can get into the working areas of the bike which isn't stable. After a rain experience, it truly is ultimate to rinse the bike off ASAP to get the dirt & dirt off. Then permit the bike dry. possibly even use a rag to wipe the bike off and get the final bits of dirt & dirt. do not pass away a bike out interior the climate for prolonged classes of time as a results of fact the areas will rust and rust is undesirable for a bike.

You'll want to keep your heart rate moderate.

A flat bike ride is ok. Use an exercycle for your cardiac rehab, and monitor your heart rate. If you can't get a rehab plan, e-mail me.
