This is it, the BIG question, prompted thanks to the little 'Band of Brothers' that has coalesced here on Y!A., and it is thanks to them that I am brought to ask it.

We all know, thanks to Albert, that energy is matter, and vice versa. It is just different manifestations of the same 'stuff', thanks to the elusive Higgs-Boson 'particle', which is still theoretical, although CERN and Wisconsin are working on super-accelerators to try to refine our understanding of this, and other, major issues of particulate physics.

Now, we know pretty much, albeit very crudely what happens, and even one version of how, matter returns to the energetic state. The nuclear reactions, both fission and fusion are fairly well understood now.

The BIG mystery, about which we apparently have no clue, is the opposite, how does energy become matter ?

Please feel free to let your mind go free in answering this question, the answer is staring us, quite literally, right in the face.

rt66lt - you might be 'right', however, if you read 'The Dancing Wu Li Masters' by Gary Zukav, you will find that many 'scientists' believe that physics and meta-physics are coming full circle back to a point where they are indistinguishable. This is a science question, but it first and foremost a spiritual question. Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. :-)))

The Reverend Soleil, I choose to differ, I regard my fellow man as infinite in potential, and in any event, this question is not about 'rocket science'. Thank you for your observations.

Whoa JON, on the contrary I do pay a great deal of attention to what you observe, and your post is highly valued, the Cosmic Observer manifests in, and through us all, and it is indeed the observation that collapses the wave form, and engenders the particulate. Which is why, although this question seems to be about pure science, it is, in fact, pure meta-physics, or in another word, spirituality.

That you may be observing different stuff is inevitable, but don't forget that we still can enjoy items from each others menus, if we so choose. ;-)

And Shaka, well, what can I say, Intent is, indeed, the word of focus, and vice versa. :-)))

Thanks CD.

Oh, and finally, when I use the gender indicatives like 'man' and 'brothers' please understand that, to me, they transcend physical gender, and include all variations on an equal basis.

Thanks tourmaline, your insight is appreciated, the re-alignment is how I see it as well. In fact the re-unification of science and spirituality is the key, I believe.

The duality was necessary for the 'experiment' to work, and now it isn't. The 'sea' of potentiality just sits there awaiting our 'command' !:-)))

You're absolutely right Jason, the 'Jesus words' about the mustard seed address this very point. But without wanting to 'chicken and egg' the whole issue, in order for the plants to be able to do this sterling job for us, how did they get to be ? ;-)

phil8656, yes I think you right, so what can take it 'down' in frequency, this is very much the 'nub'. I don't think energy really 'cares' one way or the other, it simply is, it is the 'mover' of the Energy, 'Change' itself that expresses the Intent. In our current vision it seems that physical means are more efficient, and that assumes that then energy resource is, in some way, finite. Suppose it isn't, and suppose that the work required to condense it 'down' was really just a 'trick' of the mind ?
Your "How does God become physical?" is also right on the 'money', and really deserves to be a major importance question in it's own right. My answer ? We, the human species, both physical and energetic, are exactly the how and why of 'God'. :-)))

Intent.

I know we use it as humans, but when I wrap myself around what could possibly make matter exist, it would feel like intent. vibration, accumulation, friction. Earth is very special in her way. In that form is created at all. We reflect her. Energy, to matter.

We can't really disregard that we're in conditions ripe to do it in.

Edit: (while riding my bike)
GRAVITY...sure why not, stands to reason that it holds all the other components of vibrational energy in place long enough to make it solid. Like watching cotton candy on a turnstile come together in an icky mess.

Yes, this is a guess; but I like to ponder the wonders outside of my experience. If I'm even in the ballpark, I've just defied reason.

Edit: what also defies reason is that so many cannot even sense the spiritual connotations of this question. Just know that people perceive it differently. Science isn't owned by science. It's actually moved into metaphysics with amazing impact. Meaning, if in my spiritual state of curiosity, science validates my supposings. I'm a happy person.

Knew what you meant by brotherhood, I'm honored to be counted as one of the boys. Love it, actually. Just means, I'm calling you all my sisters. lol!

The problem with this simplistic analogy is that it is impossible to force energy to produce matter. It happens at very small scales, but because of entropy, free energy or energy in the form of light or heat is much much more likely than energy being forced to be structured mass. The reverse process, however, is done. Nuclear explosions are a result of the reverse process, that is, mass converting into energy. It should be noted that not all of the uranium/plutonium mass is annihilated in a reaction, so you do not see explosions which would cripple the world ( that little 9x10^16 joules you have up there). Only a small amount of the material actually annihilates. To understand just how serious this is, just open a book and look at the mean life of a particle such as a pion, which gives up the great majority of its mass when it decays into an electron/positron and photon.

How does imminence come into manifestation?
By being observed.

(You shouldn't particularly take any notice of what I say though. I might be observing different stuff.)

EDIT.
Thanks, DazMaz, for your kind words.
I suppose what I was trying to put over, in my flippant way, is that we can costruct different realities from the raw essence of imminence.
Fire walking, bi-location and stigmata for example.

It is interesting to note that the great founders of the new physics were, while not religious, certainly mystical.

Another edit. (having just read Shaka's)

Yes, this was a brilliant question.
I must admit that I was not surprised that people didn't see that it was metaphysical. It's just good that some did.
And I agree with Shaka that it's an honour to be considered as one of the boys.

You're in the wrong category. Why don't you ask this in Science instead of Religion and Sprituality.

Edit: if a connection between physics and metaphysics was what you were asking about, why didn't you mention this in the first place? You question sounds more scientificly oriented than spiritual, and being I see people in this area constantly trying to disprove science by coming up with some off-the-wall type question, I routinely suggest going to the science section.

If I remember my science correctly, matter may well be a large concentration of energy. Considering the vast amount of energy in matter, we could still have very small, subatomic particles, which are actually large pockets of energy.

Doesn't energy always try to seek a higher vibration? Why would it want to become matter? The replicators, of star trek fame, would require huge amounts of energy. It is a lot more efficient to plant a garden and turn solar energy into chemical matter. Good question though. And I do understand why it belongs in the spiritual section, but not the religious. How does God become physical?

It's all in the Perception. ~*~EDIT: Thanks CD? OK, here goes, I'm not good at science, so I have to use my own experience. Time does not exist in absolute reality, every thing is happening now, but what is happening now is not really happening, there never was a beginning. So now we have dream energy and dream matter, I have heard that each particle magnified is mostly empty space, now the particle inside the particle is magnified and again 99.9% empty space, and on and on. So maybe the answer is "It's the silence between the notes that make the music, and the space between the bars that hold the tiger. ~*~

Extrapolation of the expansion of the universe backwards in time using general relativity yields an infinite density and temperature at a finite time in the past. The earliest phases of the Big Bang are subject to much speculation. In the most common models, the universe was filled homogeneously and isotropically with an incredibly high energy density, huge temperatures and pressures, and was very rapidly expanding and cooling. Approximately 10−35 seconds into the expansion, a phase transition caused a cosmic inflation, during which the universe grew exponentially.

After inflation stopped, the universe consisted of a quark-gluon plasma, as well as all other elementary particles. Temperatures were so high that the random motions of particles were at relativistic speeds, and particle-antiparticle pairs of all kinds were being continuously created and destroyed in collisions. At some point an unknown reaction called baryogenesis violated the conservation of baryon number, leading to a very small excess of quarks and leptons over antiquarks and anti-leptons—of the order of 1 part in 30 million. This resulted in the predominance of matter over antimatter in the present universe. The universe continued to grow in size and fall in temperature (and hence the typical energy of each particles was decreasing). Symmetry breaking phase transitions put the fundamental forces of physics and the parameters of elementary particles into their present form. At about 10−6 seconds, quarks and gluons combined to form baryons such as protons and neutrons. The small excess of quarks over antiquarks led to a small excess of baryons over antibaryons. The temperature was now no longer high enough to create new proton-antiproton pairs (similarly for neutrons-antineutrons), so a mass annihilation immediately followed, leaving just one in 1010 of the original protons and neutrons, and none of their antiparticles. A similar process happened at about 1 second for electrons and positrons. After these annihilations, the remaining protons, neutrons and electrons were no longer moving relativistically and the energy density of the universe was dominated by photons (with a minor contribution from neutrinos).

A few minutes into the expansion, when the temperature was about a billion Kelvins and the density was about that of air, neutrons combined with protons to form the universe's deuterium and helium nuclei in a process called Big Bang nucleosynthesis.

The helium and hydrogen clustered, created early stars, the stars created the heavier elements, and Bob's your uncle.

The vibration of energy would have to be slowed to allow the bonds to form for it to begin to take form as matter. Seems this would involved a cooling down process.

The question for me in this regard would not be how is matter formed from energy (we already know this), the question would be how do we direct energy to form matter of the desired structure.

Edit: I see this as a good question regarding spirituality. For it will be through the use of the scientific method that the bridge that connects science and faith will be built.............There is a spiritual saying. "Matter is the lowest vibration of Spirit as Spirit is the highest vibration of Matter"......Everything is composed of the same stuff and awareness is measurement of how free the state of energy has become.

Yes, Science, metaphysics, spirituality thinking all coming into alignment.
On the other hand - thinking less in a linear style -
maybe -
Nothing is seen to exist, until it can be seen in separate from its opposite polarity - opposite polarities together have a zero balance.
- maybe we are just part of an infinite sea of possibility or probability and in that total state/no state, all things are possible - all ways of thinking and all theories are totally valid and true.
