so tired of it.

i am a vegetarian of 15 yrs and my wife is one of the most tolerant/patient people i know, but occasionally my vegetarian eating frustrates even her. just for practical reasons, like we can't sit together as a family and all eat the same thing unless it's meatless. and we can't go to restaurants unless they have vegetarian options on the menu, which most do, but not all. she never complains about it and i never complain about her and the kids eating meat, but it's there, a feeling that my personal choice imposes limitations on their personal choices.

so while i think the wording and general tone of this question are problematic, i can, from my wife's standpoint, appreciate the sentiment.

You SHOULDN'T stop her. This is a very personal choice, one that many vegetarians think out well. I thought about becoming one for a long time, then when I watched a video about the way factory farms work, I decided for good to become one. It's quite a personal choice. It's not something that you need to stop her from doing. If she's eating well and getting enough protein (which if she's still eating dairy she should be), you have nothing to worry about. If you're just worried about her safety and nutrition, that's very sweet of you, but you really shouldn't worry. Most vegetarians do get their nutrients and live very healthy, doctors will tell you that. However, if you're trying to stop her because you want to control her, DON'T. That would be an awful thing to do. If it's something she wants to do, let her go for it. It's healthier than eating meat anyway. :)

John for Peta: why on earth are you so agressive. Animals have rights, sure, but humans as well. So don't threat the man, will you?
As for the question: there are a few possibilities:
1) Your GF doesn't whine about how you should be a vegetarian as well => leave her alone, you will do more damage than good.
2) Your GF does whine => explain to her that as much as it was her choice to be a Veg., it is your choice to eat meat. Perhaps you could agree on buying meat from cows/pigs that have had a good life you know, not in the bio-industry.

Then you are tired of her, because vegetarianism is part of what makes her herself.

Why are you asking this here? This is the vegetarian section...not a place for spouses to whine about what their partner eats.

You have to respect her decisions, especially because it's a good one. Why do you become a vegetarian?
This gets me so mad hearing these type of things.

You don't. I don't know who "she" is or even if there is a "she" but if there is you need to support her decision just as you would want her to support yours. Everyone makes their choices in life and you can't coheres someone into doing what is against their beliefs.

Are you a kind considerate person, or a control-freak meaty troll ?

Hope she has a YA account and sees you for what you are.

People should be left to thier own choices, or at least thats the way i thought the world worked in the 21 Century.
