they have to identify the cause of the std it could be bacterial fungal viral then again it could be that the specific organism is susceptible or resistant to certain antibiotics so they have to check that in the lab before they give you medicine so over the counter may not be the wisest of choices you could actually get resistant to antibiotics further complicating your infection

the only thing i can think of is mononucleosis "mono" its really common, and it basically makes you feel like **** for a couple of days to a couple of weeks. it may not even be from the kiss you could have a chronic disorder that may only be treated with regular antibiotics. either way, it is best to go see your doctor and get your blood tested. if it is mono, it will show up in the blood. hope i helped. =]

It depends on the diease. Sometimes they'll use penicillin such as amoxicillin, sometimes a macrolide such as Zithromax, or Flagyl . or Clindamycin to name a few.
