In this case, I think the "taste" of a Boca burger is really a matter of perception. Since you have never had a real hamburger, you don't know what the Boca burger is trying to imitate.
I'm a pretty happy meat-eater, but I have also tried my fair share of meat-less hamburgers. I do not like Boca burgers; I prefer the veggie burgers sold by Amy's (much better taste, albeit more expensive). I have found that eating any meatless burger plain is pretty boring and unsatisfactory...But dressing them up just like a regular burger really hides the fact there just ain't no meat--and can be pretty tasty.
But when it really comes down to it, NO, Boca burgers or any meatless burgers do not really taste like the real thing. They can match TEXTURE pretty well, but the taste is really a far cry.
I hope this helps!

To my own sensory experience, Boca Burgers *smell* like meat & I don't care for their taste @ all. I've read that they're the most "meatlike" of the burger analogs, also the most popular but not in our house. I only know 1 vegetarian who likes them much. I prefer veggie burgers that don't even pretend to be meat.

Lucky you... not tasting meat ever! I think Boca burgers taste like a sponge. But some store brands of meatless soy burgers do taste like beef.

When Boca burgers first came out, I was in middle school. I absolutely begged my mother to get them instead of the usual Morning Star Farms. We got home and cooked 'em up. I don't think I took more than 2 or 3 bites. I found it about the most discusting thing i'd ever put in my mouth. "Really?" My mom says, "They kinda remind me of a meat burger"
Of course, she had been veggie upwards of 15 years at that point, so who knows. But I do know that if that's what meat taste like, I'm glad I was brought up with out it. Ewww.

I think that they taste like the cheap-o burger patties. But actually, I always liked those. I was never a big fan of juicy giant burgers or steak. So they taste like the kind of meat I like ... just like the Boca chick'n patties. I think they're pretty good, and a quick source of protein.

Hmmm, I've never tasted a sponge, so I'm not sure on that one. I do know that Gardenburgers taste like cardboard. It's really hard to chew.
I've always liked Bocca Burgers. They don't really taste like meat, but they do kind of taste like what I used to eat in the cafeteria at school. They called it a cheeseburger, but I doubted how much real meat I was actually eating. They taste eerily similar. LOL.

i'm no longer a vegetarian, yet I do like Boca burgers (I additionally serve them as a vegetarian option). in case you're no longer sticking with "strictly" vegan, you're able to desire to upload a reliable cheese (bleu cheese or feta are between my favorites), which upload alot of style and aroma. As an advantage, the cheese (the quantity you're able to positioned on a burger) won't upload an unacceptable variety of energy (or fat). even once you're conversing strictly vegan (the cheese could be a no-no), you ought to use any and all varieties of vegetables. attempt some slices of purple onion, which will upload style AND crunch AND colour. as a replace of easy iceberg lettuce, attempt uncooked spinach, arugula, watercress, or different vegetables. they'll upload a (small) nutritional advance, besides as further style. Ketchup is nearly classic, yet how approximately some total-grain mustard (back, style plus somewhat texture)? Or one in each of my favorites: chipotle-flavored Tabasco sauce! I forgot something significant: once you're utilising an exterior grill, you are able to "flavorize" the burgers that way, too. First, make helpful the grill is extraordinarily warm. Brush one factor (or the two sides, once you're feeling industrious) of the burger with ketchup (or tomato paste diluted with somewhat water, OR vegetable juice). Grill the burger for basically 2 or 3 minutes according to factor (it is already cooked, besides. basically desires to be heated with the aid of). The ketchup will caramelize, and you will desire cool-finding grill marks on the burgers, plus a extreme high quality BBQ style.

Boca reminds me of a really low grade hamburger patty with a lot of filler. I think they're pretty gross - they're too thick and...loose. I had them a few times when I first went vegetarian.
I liked those Morningstar vegan grillers quite a bit - those remind me more of a classic hamburger.
My favorite, though, are the Sunshine burgers...mmm! Have you had those? Or the Morningstar vegan garden patty. If I'm out at a restaurant and feel like a burger I'll order no meat, add an onion ring! It's pretty yummy that way.

No,they don't taste like meat. You were raised vegetarian,so I doubt you ever had Mcd's,but it actually tastes more like a Mcd's version of a hambugrer. It doesn't have the same texture and it doesn't have all of the fat and greasiness of a real hambuger.Yeah,I think Boca burgers taste like a sponge and smell like plastic, but I still eat them when I'm hungry.
If you actually wonder what meat tastes like,Boca Chik'n patties taste like real chicken patties, and those Gardenburger BBQ Veggie Riblets taste like ribs.
