having an end of the summer party and i have to pay for it myself. how much money should i save (for decorations, food, etc.). also it would be helpful if i knew how much money to save for each particular [sp?] catagory. there will be 27 people (too many???). the main event will probably be the scavenger hunt. anything else i should do? any advice would be helpful!!!

ps: decorations probably wont have to be very big since the age range is 12 - 13.

Skip the decorations entirely. Total spent $0

Have a BBQ with burgers, hot dogs, and sausage. You'd provide the meats and "fixins" (buns, mayo, catsup, mustard, relish, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, pickles, sliced cheese). Everyone else would bring a side dish (baked beans, potato salad, chips, dips, fruit tray, desserts, drinks & ice....don't forget the ice!!). Total spent $100

You have until the end of summer to plan your party. You like the idea of a scavenger hunt. Do a web search for " scavenger hunt party ideas" Pick and choose what ideas you would like to do. From there you can start making your budget plans. You have no idea what you want to do, so there is no way we can help you. How about earning some money helping your parents out over the Summer? They might see you are serious about your party, and be willing to help you out.

If you do:
Hot dogs ($1 per pack you'll need 5) 2 per person
Buns ($1 per pack you need 5)
Chips ($3.49 a bag) 3 bags
Soda/tea/lemonade ($1.29get the big bottles 6)
Water Melon ($0.39lb get a good sized one $7)
Paper plates
Paper cups

About $45 for 27 kids - play music, twister, scavenger hunt and have a water fight (plan about $20 for misc awards and water balloons)
OK - total comes to about $65 have fun and maybe have your friends pitch in!

well u dont have to spend a lot on ur party...if there is 27 people then u should go to a dollar store or somewhere cheap and buy cups , plates and utensils. then buy some snacks and couple sodas. For decoration all u need is streamers and baloons ...so it will cost about 25 - 40 dollars not much maybe 20 bucks more for extra things
