I never made the connection between a cow and a steak, not truly. I really believed that farms were pretty, happy places with Farmer Joe in over-alls, black and white cows named Daisy and lots of rolling green hills. Steak was just a food I grew to like very much, found in a neatly packaged container at the supermarket. And it's no wonder I grew to like it, since my parents made it seem so normal and essential.
Now I know the truth, and it only took a few months of being veg*an before I lost the taste for meats. I am so glad I did (never thought I could). I would not be able to enjoy it, ever again. :) I'm very happy, too.
I'm an abolitionist yet I respect that you believe if people want meat they should hunt it for themselves. If this were the case, the world would be a different and better place.
... Still think you should go veg! *nudge* :)

Actually my grand parents owned a farm and I knew the real truth - everything is food. There were no pets just animals raised and cared for then slaughtered at the appropriate age. It was what it was and I was OK with it. I don't like the "factory" process in use today but I see it's value in mass production - I just wish they would think before feeding meat to natural vegans.

people have no clue about how the animals are treated, you are right.
Unfortunately, and just as sad as the actual abuse of animals, the fact is they do not care. See many of the answers above, sometimes i wonder if we actual got this BSE thing under control.
I live in the middle of the beef and dairy industry ( i own an arable farm )...the whole industry is sickening
such logic once again demonstrated by the meaty-trolls:
Dylan said "They are not smart enough to defend themselves" as if that makes it ok. So , its ok to kill all the people who are weaker than you is it ?
And sportbest signs off with "my brain", sorry this is the V&V section, "jokes and riddles" is further up the menu.

I would never eat a cow if I knew it was raised without its parents. A McDonalds hamburger can contain up to 25% earthworms and 60 -80 different substances all considered by the FDA to be fit for human consumsion. Once McChow reaches your stomach acids nothing really matters anymore Right?

nicely, expensive, my little ones are 19, 18 (females) and 14 (a boy). You and your guy can comply with be companions elevating your toddlers. yet each and each infant for my section will require a number of issues from each and each of you. advantageous, you are able to say, nicely, i will cook dinner and you bathe the infants. yet you won't be in a position to declare, we will take turns getting up, because of the fact the newborn will confirm how plenty care he demands, and if he's collicky, somebody is going to decide for greater advantageous than a 2 hour nap at at time....... while you're actually not working then it's going to be him who gets the sleep. it is basically the way it is going. Having infants in the abode demands which you do a hundred% of each and every thing you likely can do. He might desire to be contributing a hundred% of his efforts additionally. this heavily isn't the time to combat over who has to throw in the towels or take out the trash. it quite is the time for each of you to ask the different on a daily basis if there is something you're able to do on your better half. comply with how many of the home primary jobs you are able to sacrifice for the sake of taking good care of infant. and prepare to stay in a small reproduction of ToysRUs. observe that 5 years after infant comes abode, infant starts off college. And so do you adult males. back. understand you would be on a regimented habitual. As an further bonus, you get to initiate doing homework back..... My midsection infant is autistic. there became into no agreeing past to time as to how this infant became into to be raised. (by utilising me on my own because of the fact that she became into 9.) you in basic terms do your basically right. believe that your guy could make to blame, being concerned judgements and that he places your and your small ones first. He needs to believe the type you think of and your judgement. From there, with little ones, you fly by utilising the seat of your pants. remember, too, not each and every criticism must be voiced. people make blunders. They advance. Having infants has been an extremely sturdy catalyst for a fashion my character is now. each and every thing i believe is residing in my little ones. they are my coronary heart and soul. i'm not a perfect guy or woman. they are sturdy, sturdy, honest people regardless of my flaws. because of the fact I gave my basically right besides. wish this all is wise. you particularly shouldn't question me approximately my little ones......

Since I have raised meat for the table, I would have to say YES. I know where it comes from, what it is and what has to be done to get it to the table. Our animals were treated humanely. But they were food.
For those people who say that they should just be left to live out their lives please recognise that there wouldn't be as many animals if we didn't eat them. There would be no need for as many cows, sheep, chickens, pigs, goats, if they were not eaten.
They would be killed off so that they didn't eat the crops we would have to grow to replace them.

I still wouldn't eat meat for the simple fact that I am content being vegetarian and I love the fact that I am much healthier, happier, and live guilt free knowing that I didn't have to kill a living animal for food.

I am aware of what these animals can be like when they are left with their sanity and a healthy mind. They all have the potential to have their own personality just like dogs and cats. I would never stop being vegan, I have no reason to whatsoever.

I worked in a slaughterhouse for a while, and grew up in Iowa. If you didn't know, then that's your own ignorance, or that of your parents. I love meat, and will continue to eat it until my heart explodes. Why would I want to eat salads just to live longer to eat more salads?
Hey wait a minute... that front page story about the Rabushkins is about my hometown. They are nice people, and since it's kosher, they don't have to abide by the regular laws.
And whats further, I DON'T CARE. I couldn't care less HOW we kill animals. If more suffering makes my meat taste better, bring on the tasers!
Foodlover, you are genius.
