My home was built in 1890, is very well insulated and i have never had air conditioning installed. I pay about $5 extra a month in the summer to run the ceiling fans on my high ceilings (I run the ceiling fans year around) and a large exhaust fan for nights. At night I open certain windows to replace the heated air with cooler air and close my home up during the day. It's fun when people visit on a hot day and comment on how nice and cool my house is

I pay way to much, and we all know that an increase is always just around the next seasonal corner. I keep the doors shut, the windows and shades closed, I use fans with the air conditioner, to circulate the air faster. I run it 4 to 5 different times during the day for 15 min -30 each time. I keep it on 70 most of the time. and in winter I keep it on 75-78. After it rains, I open the windows and doors, ahhhh. At night I rarely use air, I open the windows, still using the fans for circulation..
One of the most important things is to monitor and change your filters, year around.

I am going to sound like a miser, but if you hear me out a little, I might make some sense.
My neighbors all use A.C.
I use fans. The A.C. is in my basement, doing nothing. When I used ot use it, it didn't cool enough to be worth it.
Now, I went to Home Depot and bought some big fans, plus I installed a ceiling fan/ light combo.
One unit I bought from Home Depot is made in China, and fits in the window, and looks like a mini A.C.
It cools so much that it was very cold on some hot nights, but it's all fresh air instead of phony A.C. air.
That unit only cost me $32.00. I don't see them around in Home Depot anymore.
My neighbors have to be pulling in $200.00 a month extra for their A.C.'s.
What I am trying to accomplish, in my own way, is getting highly efficient and conservative, saving money while doing this that I can use to invest in stocks with, and making an environmental statement as well.
Plus, I'm healthier.

We averaged about $250 for the house, but now we are averaging under $70. We bought an XPower Energy Saver and just plugged it in and turned it on. It cleans the electric lines and improves the power factor in the line.

I use central air conditioning and ceiling fans. And it costs me at least $100 in extra electricity each month in summer.
That reminds me, it is time to change the filters in the return air vents. Clogged filters can reduce the air flow enough to significantly decrease the amount of cooling produced per kilowatt used. Thanks for reminding me.

$2,000-$3,000 if you are Mr. Gore, and Chief Puppeteer for the Eviro-Whacko movement!!!!
Don't look for alternatives, just BUY more Carbon Offset from Mr. Gore's company! It will make him millions and make your feel better about the destruction you are causing to the earth.
Keep pedaling your bike while Mr. Gore gets carted around on private jets and limos!!!
Drink the Global Warming Kool-Aid!!!
