Plus they're versatile - you can use them to make cream bases (I just learned how to make cashew cream and have been loving experimenting with different flavors for dressings!) and things like home made hummus.
I eat raw almond butter almost every morning on toast with honey (yes, I know it's not vegan - I buy local honey and have no no moral issues with it).
There's a good variety. I love them ALL! They can be expensive. A good alternative to paying out the nose would be to buy your own organic, raw nuts nd make butters yourself.

It is easy to overdo nut butters because they are so delicious. They are high in calories because they are PACKED with protein and nutrition.

Nut butters are just ground nuts (peanut butter most common) . Other nut butters available at Trader Joes , like almond or cashew .
Same health benefit as eating the regular / whole nuts .

If you want to make some, I have had good results with a food processor. Process your desired type of nuts to a fine powder and then add Veg. oil a bit at a time till the consistency that you want is achieved. You can use salted nuts or add salt if desired.

Nut butters are made from nuts. Nuts are a good source of protein.
