I never tried. While reading about health, I just gravitated to grains, beans, fruit, etc, and realized I was a vegan. 13 years later, I've progressed to 70% fruit! YeHaaaaaaaaa!!
"People are carnivorous"
This shows how little you know of this topic. Carnivores eat only animals. Even cats aren't carnivores: They'll eat a little grass and leaves, and I've had cats that ate tomato sause, popcorn(non-buttered even), and one that liked banana.
"tons of people that I know that think I am nuts "
No one I've known thought I was nuts.
"do believe that we do really need to have meat in our bodies"
I do. But I call it muscle. Seriously, Name ONE thing in meat that I don't get.
Are you getting Vitamin P?
Pectin?
Selinium?
Vitamin K?

Oh yes, It took me a year and a half to become a full vegetarian. I have tons of people that I know that think I am nuts for being a vegetarian, but after seeing the things that I saw a lot of them would be vegetarians if they saw it too. I have quite a few that say they would never be able to live without meat. I have been a vegetarian for about 5 yrs now!

I haven't, but most girls I know have tried being vegetarian at some point in their life. I don't really love meat so much that I can't understand why someone would want to be a vegetarian, but I do like it. I have been thinking of switching not to vegetarianism but to a diet that only includes meat that has been raised organically/free range and that has been humanely killed. The treatment of animals before they are killed and the way they are slaughtered are my biggest objections to eating meat.

I've been a vegetarian for years and there's no way I could have the discipline to become a vegan. I can easily live without meat. I feel better, I have more energy and meat is so hard to digest- plus it's cruelty to animals. Have your friends watch a movie called, "Fast Food Nation". They'll be so grossed out, they won't ever want to eat meat again- especially fast food, which I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

Well....since you are asking this question in this section, most of the people that are here are either vegetarian with the exception of a few trolls and meat eaters that come in here to show stupidity.
I am proud to say I have tried and succeeded being a vegetarian.

Personally, no.
I lift heavy weights 4 times a week and need to maintain my muscle mass. By becomming a vegetarian I will limit my body with the protein it needs from meats such as poultry and fish.
However, my mother has been a vegetarain for the past 20 years and she is only 100 pounds (she is very small).
It is a good idea for people that wish to loose weight and keep it off.

No, I haven't. I simply have no desire to. That said, I admire you for doing it. If you make sure you replace the protein and iron you lose from not eating meat, then it really is a healthier way of living. Make sure you eat nuts and beans. They help. I guess soy is pretty good for that, too. When I'm dying of heart disease when I'm 60, you'll probably be in great shape! Good luck to ya!
