no form of jesus'
december 25th is the birthday of someone specific and has been celebrated for many years before jesus was born
and the archbishob moved jesus' birthday to the 25th in mid to late 400 C.E.
but a winter birth doesn't work because the shepards wouldn't be in the fields with their flock in -0 degree weather so it's agreed it was fall or spring
and as for trees god despies them as they were worshipped by the pagans
starfishltd is still the closest overall all he missed was who christmas is about
the most i can tell you with out saying their name is it's a sun deity whose cult started ~100 B.C.
com on I want some one to get this you have all the information you need just look it up!!!

Christmas IS the celebration of the birth of Christ. In the sixth century (I believe) the Catholic church assigned December 25 as the day to celebrate. This was taken from the pagan holiday in celebration of the sun...a little play on words by the Catholics. (Instead of celebrating the SUN, we celebrate the SON.) Not everyone celebrates on the 25th, even today. Some celebrate in the spring which is more likely to be the actual season of Jesus' birth. Trees, Santa, and Christmas Sales at Wal-Mart all came later. The REAL meaning, in my opinion, is to recognize that Jesus left Heaven (a place so perfect that we cannot imagine it) and came to live on the Earth, not only to live around sin but also to carry sin on His shoulders to Calvary.

like many other pagan holidays that were christianised along with the pagan gods, winterfest/winter solstice was turned into christmass.
many cultures celebrate the rebirth of the sun on that day because the days start to become longer.

I just finished listening to The Twelve Days of Christmas by Bob & Doug McKenzie (yup, it's and oldie), and I think that pretty much sums up the real meaning of Christmas. :)
