Hi...I'm 15 years old but this is not about me
I have a friend who is also 15 and well he just told me and my other friends that he has had a few (more than 1) heart attacks till now. the situations he has described were those when he was under some great stress(like him breaking up with his girlfriend). He has been to the doctor and he has told him that he might die if he has two-three more attacks.
But the problem is that this friend of mine is a huge attention seeker and i fear he just might be doing this to get the sympathy of others.
So my question is can a teenager have heart attacks like this due to panic or is he just making this story up?

Rest assured that your friend is just looking for attention. Heart attacks in teens are very rare, an then usually occurring in those who have heart disease, such as congenital heart failure. Also some teens have heart attacks that are drug induced, more common with cocaine abuse. I guarantee you no Doctor would ever say, "You might die if you have 2-3 more heart attacks." Call your friends bluff and tell him to start acting like a man.

Yes, a few teenagers die every year from heart attacks caused by previously undiscovered heart defects, or from steroid use. They usually occur during intense physical exertion during a sports event.

I have never heard of anyone having "several" heart attacks due to emotional stress. I would guess that maybe he has had a few panic attacks.

I suggest you start treating him as a heart attack victim. Exclude him from any activities that a normal heart attack victim must avoid, such as sports, trips to McDonald's, stressful events (practically anything) and see how he likes that. :)

Yes teenagers can have heart attacks. They are VERY unusual though. If your friend is very heavy (very obese) or has major heart defects, going under a lot of stress can cause a heart attack.

I seriously doubt he did though.....

You know what? Any one of us could die if we were to have 2-3 "more" heart attacks--- your friend isn't in any special situation because of that. If fact, ANY one of us could die if we were to just have ONE "more" heart attack.

be assured that unless your friend has a congenital heart disease or has recently undergone chemotherapy for cancer, (both of which i assume he has not), is is impossible to have a heart attack at the age u mentioned. its just an extension of his attentioin seeking behaviour.
