During the fast before your test you can have only water. Even something as small as chewing a piece of gum can interact with the test.

For my husbands last test they even told him that he should avoid mouthwash. Toothpaste was fine but no mouthwash.

If you normally take any medications in the morning, call your doctors office and see if you can still take them. usually it's fine but it's best to check anyway.

I am scheduled for a cholesterol test tomorrow morning. They told me I can drink water, but nothing else for 12 hours before the test.

You can sip on water, but that is all.
