According to the CDC, 50% of men and women have been exposed to HPV while 80% of women will have HPV by the time they reach 50.

Although HPV is not life threatening (in most cases) to men, you still may want to disclose to your partner because it may affect any future partners they may have or cause them to have physical warts.

You may also want to get the Gardisil HPV vaccine. It won't cure the strain of HPV you do have, but it may prevent you from getting any other strains in the future.

You can live a normal life even with HPV. As long as you get regular Pap Smears to make sure it has not developed into cervical Cancer, you should be fine. Doctors usually perform a colposcopy to check for this. Cervical Cancer if caught early is very treatable.

I get my colposcopy results today, so wish me luck!

I have HPV.

It's ridiculous how many people have it. I advise all of the young people in my family to not risk having sex without getting tested and their partner being tested. Because just think, in the future, it's only going to get worse. STDs and such. It's not worth being careless to end up with a cancer causing virus for life :(

Unknown, this virus can be present without ever
producing symptoms. The only way to be sure is to be tested.
