OK, first dont freak out. i know exactly what your feeling and going threw. About 3 years ago, i was diagonsed with hpv, and you need to have your paps done every 6 months. this is very important, this is done to check on the virus and make sure it hasnt got worse. some hpv virus heal them selves, and im happy to say that is what happened to me. so just go to get your paps done like your supposed 2, and dont worry about it. ive been there and just try to avoid stress as much as possible. i hope this brings you a little peace of mind.

hpv is treatable. Get a pap smear every 6 months if not sooner and your doctor should tell you if further treatment needs to be taken if your cervical cells are becoming more and more cancerous like. as long as you keep going for check ups you should not get to teh point of having cancer. There are surgical procedures that should prevent the disease from going Too far. Just keep getting checked up. I have not heard you can die from hpv.

I have HPV of the vulva and the vaginal cuff.

The progress from high risk HPV type to cancer is generally long 10 years or more.

Glandular cervical cancer is more rare and is faster to porgress. You can find more information on this type of cancer at the American Cancer Society.

Each year about 3,700 women die due to the progression of HPV to a cancer of the cervix, 800 or so with vulva and vaginal cancers.

HPV is the cause of 99.7% of all cervical cancers. 80% of all vulva cancer and 90% of all anal cancers.

Yearly screening and treatments when necessary will greatly reduce the risk of the progression of the virus.

This is some of the best information on Understanding cell changes:

We play a big part in preventing the progression of the virus with yearly screening Knowledge and treatments when recommended by our doctor.

Humans are only affected by the human papilloma virus....many animals and mammals are affected with their own Papilloma virus.

HPV is VERY VERY VERY common. It's so common in fact that dogs get it. Every person on this planet will get HPV at one time or another...it just all depends on what kind of strand it is...most people get it but their body treats it like a virus (like it would a cold) and get rid of it. There are hundreds of strains of HPV but only a very slight few (few meaning maybe 3) cause cancer and only 2 of them cause gentile warts. It is also VERY VERY rare that a man will develop cancer from HPV.

All strains of HPV are not sexually transmitted; HPV actually isn't a sexually transmitted anything; it does not pass to each other through the fluids of sex, it is on skin-to-skin contact. So let's say you don't have intercourse but you do other things...you don't have to have intercourse for you to get HPV. People get this confused...people also confuse the fact that HPV is not an STD, it is an STI (sexually transmitted infection), it is not a disease...I should know. About 3 weeks ago I tested positive for HPV and I have done more research on this everyday. Funny enough...the only website I have found to give me any kind of comfort was http://dictionary.com ...this is not weird. I just put in HPV and it came up with everything I wanted to know. No, you can't die from HPV if you don't get cervical cancer.

There are many different HP viruses only a few cause cervical changes. If you have a smear every two years you will be fine. A positive result can be fixed it's not a death sentence
You can not die for HPV if you don't get cervical cancer.
It is a wart virus not the plague and as we know warts can be found anywhere on the body.
Stop stressing

Yes, a woman can develop cervical cancer from HPV if she has a "kind" or "type" of HPV that can cause cervical cancer (the kinds that cause genital warts are different from the kinds that can cause cervical cancer).

Developing cervical cancer is actually pretty rare though! With proper screenings like pap smears, only about 1% of women with HPV will actually go on to develop cervical cancer. It shouldn't be taken lightly though! Cervical cancer still affects 10,000 women in the US every year, and kills about 4,000 of them!

Cervical cancer usually occurs among women in their childbearing years and beyond. Half of all women newly diagnosed with cervical cancer are age 47 or older.

There is a new vaccine out called Gardasil for HPV. If a woman already has HPV it won't cure her of it, but it can possibly prevent her from contracting a kind of HPV she doesn't already have. The vaccine protects against 4 different kinds of HPV (two known to cause about 70% of cervical cancer and two known to cause about 90% of genital warts). Say, for example, a young girl only has one kind of HPV that the vaccine prevents. Theoretically, if she gets the vaccine, she'll be protected from contracting the other 3 kinds of HPV that the vaccine protects against. Good luck!

Mostly cervical cancers are a result of HPV. You should ask your doctor about ways to control it. It will cause the cells to change and over time develope into cancer.

No, you can not die from HPV but it can turn into cancer quickly so the doctor will tell you to get a pap every 6 months- just to be safe. HPV is just another name for internal genital warts. You may never even see the warts but they can call "lesions" in your cervix. If this happens, you will need a biopsy of the lesion. The biopsy is no big deal. They just go in (just like you are getting a pap) and they pinch a piece of the lesion off. Just keep up with your checks and have safe sex.
