I think it has a richer taste than cow's milk. It's nice on its own or on cereal, but I'm not too keen on it in tea or coffee. Mind you, I think I was put off because the first time I tried it in a coffee, it curdled and was disgusting!
There are loads of different brands on the market, so the best thing is just try them all until you find one that you like. They're a bit more expensive than dairy, but the good karma is worth it!

My answer is to say "make sure it is well chilled" and you shouldn't find it unpleasant. Buy a good brand - don't buy supermarket "value" brands (a misnomer if ever i've heard one). The goodness/badness quoted in an earlier post is usually due to the corner cutting of the manufacturing process. A good quality soya milk by one of the better manufacturers is likely to be a far healthier alternative.
My wife and children are all allergic to dairy produce, so we all drink soya milk. The kids love it on "coco pops" since then they get chocolate milk! I use soya milk in cappucinos (it froths better than normal milk) and friends can taste that its "different" but they still ask for a 2nd cup, so it must be good! I use it in tea too - works fine for me, just don't make it too milky.
I would recommend trying "alpro" brand soya milk. Preferably the sweetened one with added calcium (blue carton).

Just go and try some. I've been drinking it for about 15 years and I only drink that.
I can't digest milk since I was a baby so I was in heaven when I found soya milk and I finally could eat cereal with milk instead of water.

It is a very acquired taste, it's actually quite sweet and you do get used to it after a while. I suppose that the flavoured soya milk isn't too bad, but I'm not sure what it would be like on cereal.

I personally use a NonFat brand when I use it, but if you don't mind a bit of fat in it (because cow milk is almost nothing but fat), I'd suggest Silk Very Vanilla for kids. It tastes awesome on cereal and tastes like melted ice cream alone. Two people I convinced to try it like it more than cow milk and now get it regularly.
There are many other types of milk as well - almond milk, cashew milk, oat milk, rice milk, hemp milk, etc.

It REALLY depends on what brand you choose. They do NOT taste the same at ALL. Personally, I think that the one that tastes most like real milk is the Costco brand called Kirkland Signature. Second best, IMO is 8th Continent. Many people say they love Silk, etc. but personally I think all the other brands taste very "nutty" - almost an almond flavor or something to them... definitely not like milk. But if you have a Costco in your area... their soymilk is the only one I'll actually drink plain. 8th Continent (a national brand, should be available everywhere) is second best... tastes fine in coffee or cereal... but I don't drink it plain.
Ultimately, it's all about personal taste. Your best bet is to try each brand until you find one you like.

I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian, but I hated the taste of cow's milk as a kid, so I drank soy and rice milk instead. Now, I can stomach the bovine stuff, but soy milk tastes much better in my opinion.
First, there are many different brands of soy milk, and they all taste different. My personal favorite is called Silk - it comes in plain, vanilla, chocolate, and specialty flavors like coffee (mmm) and eggnog. Plain or vanilla is great with cereal. But it can be an acquired taste, so try Silk or any other brands at your local grocery or health food store, until you find one you like.
There are other kinds of vegan milk too, such as rice milk. However, while I think rice milk tastes very sweet and delicious, it's much lower in protein and other nutrients. Soy milk is your best bet.

There's lots of different kinds, so you can experiment some since they are all slightly different. Most people I know like the stuff in the refrigerated section best - my favorite is Silk Plain soy milk (the red container). I use it for cereal and never noticed much of a difference from cow's milk. Their chocolate milk is really quite good when it's very cold.
I use the plain soy milk in baking and cooking also, and I can't tell a difference.

i didnt like it on its own but on cereal and other things i couldnt even taste the difference to the normal milk people drink. i think you will get used to it after a while or if not get flavoured soya milk and then you will still be able to drink it. i hope this helps and good luck being a vegan :) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I hate milk so use this as alternative I use it in my cereal only. The only thing I have found (uk) is sourcing small pints of it as normally comes in large packs and if only you using and not using every day you can often end up throwing out! Its quite tasteless I find so I don't mind it but my partner hates it too. Another alternative I have heard some people do is add fruit juice to their cereal not something I have tried though.
