I was just curious if HIV can be transmitted to babies through breastfeeding. Do you guys know about it or did it actually happen to your babies ? If it does transmit, what is the chance that HIV passes on to babies if their moms have HIV ? Let me know!

HIV can be transmitted through breastfeeding.

However, the answer isn't as simple as yes or no. Please check out the link that I've listed as my source you'll find a good answer. Basically, breastfeeding is safe (and more healthy) up to a point, but transmision of HIV is a very real possibility.

There is a lot of information available online by searching for "hiv breastfeeding" that will help you make this decision.

Um if the Mom has HIV the baby probably does too. If the baby doesn't - yes breastfeeding CAN pass it on.

It can - but you have to have HIV in the first place.

i though if you had HIV.. and had a baby .. your baby would most likely have it. Since they live off your body...share blood, and everything.
