Because you eat too much of it. Cutting carbs will cut the sugar craving.

You may be diabetic or predisposed to diabetes. You need to keep sugar and refined starches to a minimum in your diet. Try to stay focused on veggies, fruits, and whole grains, but be sure to include some meat and low fat dairy in your diet. Eat small meals or snacks at regular intervals throughout the day and be sure to include a carbohydrate and a protein source at each meal or snack. Don't try to deny yourself the sweets you crave but include something small and sweet with each meal or snack. Your body will handle the sugar better if it's included at a meal time.

A visit to your doctor to test for diabetes would be a good idea. Even if you don't have it at this time, you can delay the onset by following the appropriate eating guidelines.

If you are craving excess amounts, then you need to reprogram your thought processes from living to eat to eating to live.

I don't believe that craving sugar has anything to do with becoming diabetic. I've never craved sugar and I became diabetic. It has more to do with poor diet and lack of exercise.
