My dad's going to pay me 100 dollars a week if I stop becoming vegetarien and start eating meat, it's sounds tempting but I feel kind of bad when I eat chicken and beef, etc. Vegetarien is soo much healthier (so I've heard) and it's eco-friendly, plus, why bother eating animals that go through severe conditions just for us to enjoy a nice 'burger', it' sounds like a no dealer but there's the fact that I need the money and sorry, but a 100 dollers a month is great...crap I don't know what to do, I feel like in such a limbo, this vegetarien thing is good for a lot of reasons but it's also been kind of complicating, I need to see nutrientist and eat certain amount of stuff and ugh! i don't know what I should do, what should I do?

what's worth more, a life of an innocent animal or a $100 bill that you will spend on yourself (or another)?

AHH! Don't do it! I beg of you, please don't! If I was rich I'd give you 200 dollars a week to STAY vegetarian... but I'm broke, so no luck there. That's like saying for 100 bucks a week would you deny your religion or sleep with someone you didn't like. Money sucks and doing things that you don't want to do simply to get money is just lame. Very lame. Please stay being a vegetarian! It's not that complicated really, just eat anything you want except meat. Scrambled eggs, toast, spaghetti, pizza, sandwiches, or get fake meats to cook with. As far as the figuring out what to eat so that you get all your nutrition and stuff, well it's not like it's easier to figure out when you add meat back in! It's still hard either way to get everything right every day, that's why there's multi-vitamins as a back up plan. If you want to keep track of what you eat for a week or two to see how you're doing on nutrition try this website: www.fitday.com you can choose from their list of thousands of foods or ad your own foods if you know the nutritional facts for them. So, as a final plea... please!!! Please, please, please stay vegetarian. You're saving so many innocent lives right now and I'd cry to see you slaughter so many poor little animals just to earn 100 bucks. Would you kill your dog for 100 bucks a week? Or your cat, or your neighbors horse? Cows, chickens, lambs, deer, and every other animal is no different. They're still living, breathing, feeling, sensing, loving creatures that deserve better than a life of suffering and a painful slaughter.

If what you believe is important to you than you wouldn't be in such a limbo. Right now you are young and your experience with life is limited to the short time you have been on earth, as you age your principles will hopefully be something that no one can take from you no matter what they offer. Right now you are looking at things through a child eye; money, money money. However this could be something you look back on and regret.

I personally think your father is teaching you a terrible lesson. He is showing you that money if far more important than sticking to something you believe in, and that the right amount of money will make you sell your soul(figuativly speaking).

I personally would never allow anyone to have that amount of power over me. What is next, "I don't like your boyfriend, I'll give you $1000 to dump him.",etc. Nothing is worth selling yourself to someone, and letting them know that you, and your beliefs are for sale.

What if I told you I'd give you 100 dollars an hour to drink a gallon of gas and smoke crack ever hour 8 hours a day 7 days a week? Would you do it? Come on you could make a mint off this deal... No Dice Fine I'll give 100 a week to take a cyanide tablet daily... . No... Fine I'll give you 100 dollars a week i'll beat the crap out of you with a baseball bat.. See what I'm saying.. Which is more important your father's bribe or your health..

Why would you need the money? You dont need it for college or anything, so I wouldnt take it. Your lucky, at your age, I dont think you need the money that much. I would talk to your dad and tell him that eating a vegetarian diet is healthy and easy. Please dont do it, think about what a sellout you'll become. Even if your too broke for designer clothes and movies, I just like to do free things (im a teen too) you can window shop, exercise etc. None of those things require you selling your health for money

There are a lot of answers here that seem a little extreme. One telling you to take the money and cheat, another to hold out for more money, others saying don't be a sell out for your beliefs, wow!

How about since you are 15 mom and dad fix dinner and if you don't like it, don't eat. Then when it's time to get a drivers license or car, they don't do it for you. Hows that for a bribe?

Whose running the asylum here? You do realize that you parents are responsible for you BY LAW. A hundred bucks a week? What do you need that kind of money for? That amount is what my family spends on feeding 3 of us each week.

I don't think you have anything to complain about in life right now. As far as what you eat, that's up to you and your family.

I think your dad is just interested in your health. As a vegetarian you have to be careful about your nutrition - - something that as a meat eater you took for granted.

What do you do to get your 50 grams of protein each day?
What do you eat to get the B vitamens you need?
Etc... etc... etc...

I think your father is only willing to pay the $100 for a certain about of time. You didn't say how old you are or how long your father will hold out with the payments. In any case I think its best that you hold off the vegetarianism until you can prepare your own meals - like 16 for girls or 18 for boys.

(I'd take the money for the next couple months and see what happens next.)

No. Why would you sell out your personal beliefs and your health for $100 a week? If you believe in something you need to commit. You don't have to see anyone, there are a ton of books and websites to help you eat properly. It sounds like your dad has your number. Your looking for an easy out. Be careful taking it, it's a slippery slop.

That's too bad - the meat industry is responsible for so much animal suffering, environmental damage, and health problems. I wouldn't compromise my beliefs for $100 a week but it's your choice. Maybe you could show him these websites: http://www.meat.org and http://www.pcrm.org/health/veginfo/vsk/veg_foods.html . If he's worried about your health, let him know the The American Dietetic Association's position: "Appropriately planned vegetarian diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases."

Good luck.

My daughter has been a vegetarian for almost 12 years. She eats no meat. However she has eggs in her pancakes etc. No matter what we did she refused to eat meat. I let her make up her mind when she was 12. She has yet to give in. She has made it her choice, I respect her for doing what she believing. If you can give it up for $100.00 a month or week siince you use both in your question, then your not a real vegetarian.
