Of course it is...
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles.
There are 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7% of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 14.6 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, unfortunately, 6.2 million people (or nearly one-third) are unaware that they have the disease.
In order to determine whether or not a patient has pre-diabetes or diabetes, health care providers conduct a Fasting Plasma Glucose Test (FPG) or an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT). Either test can be used to diagnose pre-diabetes or diabetes. The American Diabetes Association recommends the FPG because it is easier, faster, and less expensive to perform.
With the FPG test, a fasting blood glucose level between 100 and 125 mg/dl signals pre-diabetes. A person with a fasting blood glucose level of 126 mg/dl or higher has diabetes.
In the OGTT test, a person's blood glucose level is measured after a fast and two hours after drinking a glucose-rich beverage. If the two-hour blood glucose level is between 140 and 199 mg/dl, the person tested has pre-diabetes. If the two-hour blood glucose level is at 200 mg/dl or higher, the person tested has diabetes.

Why is it when a person hears diabetes, they always picture a fat person? Well, I am here to tell you, many skinny people have it too. As you have been told in previous answers, type 1 hits all ages and all sizes. type 2 is pretty much because of being overweight. But don't put down the large people. There could be other reasons for the fat.

I'm thin, fit and healthy...and I have type 1 diabetes. I weigh 137 pounds. That seem heavy? Well, it's not. I wear a size six. I'm not...nor have I ever been...overweight.
I walk, swim and lift weights to keep in shape. I get a lot of exercise. I eat right.
My diabetes was linked to a traumatic injury that I received in a car accident. I was 27 when I was diagnosed.
So...YES. Diabetes can happen to anyone...no matter what they weigh.

One of the things a doctor looks for in diabetes is unexplained weight loss.
Not only Halle Berry but Mary Tyler Moore have adult onset diabetes, both of them are skinny as rails.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Yes, because there are two types. Type 1 and Type 2. I believe if you have Type 2 it is caused mainly by diet, lack of exercise and weight. Type 1 can be genetic and occurs in childhood. There is also diabetes induced by pregnancy. So, weight isn't always a factor in diabetes.
