Advair can be a little irritating to the throat. Ask the doctor to let you try an alternative asthma medication. There are pills and inhalers available. Ask to try Singulair tablets and/or a combivent inhaler.

Hope that helps !

Honey:
If the cough has not subsided with the use of Advair and a Albuteral inhaler than I would go to an emergency room. They can not deny you treatment. The use of advair is mostly used for a preventative to an asthma attack. The albuterol inhaler is for an asthma attack. If you have a persistent cough and it has lasted for two weeks. It is not your asthma if you have the two inhalers I mentioned. it is something worse and serious and needs attention ASAP.
God Bless you and good luck

When I was in my early teens, I was allergy tested b/c I was getting a lot of headaches. I started on allergy shots and an inhaler. I took both for about a yr. After the second month, I started getting bronchitis 1-2 times a month. I kept being put on antibiotic or told it was allergies that werent covered with the shots. At the end of the year, I got fed up and stopped taking it all. Low and behold, I got rid of everything! No more cough! No more infection! When I went back to my dr she was shocked b/c she hadnt seen me in so long. She asked what happened. I told her I stopped taking all that crap and felt better. She told me that sometimes you build up an immunity toward the medicine. Im not sure what to think...

I feel your pain. I've had asthma for 14 years now and have seen several doctors. The truth is, there is no known cure for asthma at the moment. But the symptoms can be prevented. It really depends on what causes your brother's asthma. Mine is usually dust and hot weather. But I think the universal method is using the control inhaler.

I cured my Asthma the natural way?

I have asthma and take advair, the 50/500 and it works like this, it allows the bronchial to absorb the mucus like it's suppose to and it loosens the mucus. Of course your going to cough. If your throat gets sore, mine does too, I suck on "Hacks" cough drops, it helps.

Something in your surroundings is upsetting you, it could be anything or, it's pollinating in your area now. You may be allergic to something around you, from molds in your home to the air itself. Have you been tested? if not, ask for a test to see what your allergic to.

If your in one of the States that are so hot, it could be the heat itself. I'm allergic to the heat, my voice is almost gone now, it'll fade from the heat.

I also have taken Advair. It did the same thing to me. I believe that is a side effect. I stopped taking it and I'm fine. Talk to him again and tell him that it is making it worse. He might have you try something else.

Good luck!!!
