Live Earth has been publicised alot but is it realli worth it ?! the energy wasted just to get the acts to each concert let alone run it is ridiculous! or is it just to get money out of gullible people who want to go nd c 1 act who will probably play 1 track anyway! or is there actualli some motive nd they r really using "green" energy sources!?

It is well worth it as one of the only mediums that seem to get high profiles are popstars and entertainment. So using this as a platform to raise the profile is an excellent idea.

As for just getting money out of gullible people, these would go and see the line up of 'stars' anyway, but perhaps being part of a world wide effort is also an attractive idea, after we only have one Earth.

I don't get Bob Geldof's comments, who thought Gore's energies were misplaced. "I hope they're a success," Geldof said. "But why is he (Gore) actually organising them? To make us aware of the greenhouse effect? Everybody's known about that problem for years. We are all...conscious of global warming".(http://uk.news.yahoo.com/pressass/20070707/tuk-fans-urged-to-fight-global-warming-6323e80.html)

Firstly are we not now all aware of the starving in Africa? So why bother highlighting it.
Does he not realise that the main people to be hit by environmental tragedies are the poor and those who live in drought ridden countries. Perhaps he should visit Gore to get some knowledge on the bigger picture, unless he is just suffering from a case of sour grapes because he is not in the lime light for such a global issue.

They keep on saying that's it's an "environmentally friendly" show, but I highly doubt it. They could recycle all day long; concerts that are this big take a lot of energy, no matter how "green" they're trying to be.

You are right, their main concern is money. Have you seen the concert ticket prices? They are making millions off of people. None of this trend would have happened if it weren't for the huge profit that they're making.

All this climate change, global warming rubbish is just a huge money making scam. Here in Australia, they've encouraged us to use less water. Now we've done what they've asked, they turn around and say the price of our water is rising because less people are using it and they're not making enough money!!! What a rort! Basically, don't believe any of it. Global warming? The Earth's temperature has risen only 0.5% in the last 100 years! Is that really global warming?? You decide, I know what I think...

This is Live Earth crap is crap. It is just someone with some sort of most likely political agenda. To make money, to rip off gullible idiots who follow the crowd. We must make our own waves to change the earth and that is learning to appreciate and live with her. The best way to protect our environment is too look at our evironment and see what we have done to it. Take a step back and regroup by stopping our riotous living and greedy prideful ways. Most of the people backing the Live Earth crap do not really "Live Green". Native Americans long agp lived green and someof their prodigy do today. Learn from aboriginal peoples they will teach one to respect and live to protect their lively hood. We have bitten the hand that feeds us too long.

You're right. The hypocrisy is obvious. It's a co-ordinated and manpulative effort at Groupthink. Just enjoy the music and ignore the politics. Good Job.

And THATS why I stopped attending live events years ago. Damned evil minions trying to get me out of the house when I can just wait for it to go to video. Better yet, now cable shows live events. But, to watch those, you have to cover the top of the tv in aluminum foil, shiny side down. And, eh, don't forget the glasses, or they will burn your eyeballs into your head.

its about being visible and raising awareness, just like any other benefit concert.

there's a lot of crap on here about Live Earth, I bet no one says anything about AIDS awareness, or cancer, or issues that affect third world countries
