It is common sense that the taxes and stamp duties on ciggerette sales is lining the pockets of the government. It is a sad situation that they think of the lining in their funds .They certainly dont think or consider the lining of the smokers lungs. Then they dont take in to the consideration the cost of the hospital expenses to treat or save these people with a smoking addiction.

Because there is money to be made selling them. Tobacco farmers make money raising tobacco and the cigarette companies make money selling the cigarettes. THe states make money with cigarette taxes. Why is lysol and other household cleaners still sold when they cause cancer and are toxic to your health? Same reasons.

Exactly. There is money to be made, and the industry has a few 'lawmakers' in their pockets.
What's really infuriating is that there are substances banned that aren't nearly as toxic.

the government is taking small steps to banning them, if they turned illegal altogether, then all of the people who are addicted, would turn away from the government. and that wouldnt be good, but at least they are teaching kids about how bad they are 4 u.

besides that cigarette sales make many people rich-
people die in car accidents-cars are still sold
people die from alcohol consumption-alcohol is still sold
people die from gunshots-guns are still sold
in other words-it is people own free choice to take risks that may be harmful. we can not make everything that is dangerous illegal.
