Every single salad I ever make is always different and unique in it's own way.
All it takes is a hungry teenage girl and lots of veggie stuff haha! like what I just finished eating..
2 big layered iceberg leaves layered together [they were the top ones, so they were kind of curved like a bowl.]
and I filled half of it with shredded cabbage and carrots and then chopped some onions and radish and put it over and then about 2 TSP of smashed pinto beans in the middle and a couple slices of avocado around it and little shucks of pineapple around my lettuce-bowl lettuce, to make it look better and its so good and fun to eat, try my salad!
YUM!! It was delicious = ]

1 NEVER use Iceberg..it is nutrtionally VOID.
I tend to use what every raw veggies I have on hand..always start with really good lettuces, Spring, Mixes & Romaine.
Right now Corn is in here in TX, so I add that (uncooked right off the cob) Think out side the box(salad bowl). Any cooked or raw veggie works in a salad, just take your cue from some of the really great salad bars you've been too.

I don't think there is an actual name to this salad, but it's delish:
~2 cups of spring mix
~1/2 cup chopped romaine (optional)
~1/4 cup of cooked rotini pasta or other fun shape, rinsed and drained
~handful of feta cheese
~handful of craisins
~garlic vinegarette salad dressing
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and enjoy. It's simple, but very good!

I love the boring salads--normal fruit salads without dressing (and plenty of strawberries!) as well as the traditional veggie salad with lettuce, tomatoes, and purple onions with dressing.

I made a salad the other night that was fantastic. I used butter lettuce, cukes, scallions, unsalted cashews, canned mandarin orange and chow mein noodles. I then tossed it with Annie's Naturals Asian dressing.

I like unusual raw veggies in my salad, such as celeriac, beets, kolrabi, bok choy, sunchokes, white radish, horseradish, raw sprouts of all types (fennungreek, radish, clover, chia, lentil, pea, brocoli) and seeds, such as sunflower, flax, pumpkin. I make raw dressings by just whizzing up a little oil, lemon and raw veggies, such as spring onion in a blender. Yummy!

a pretty good and unique salad is a mexican salad. it has corn, black beans and tortilla sstrips and is served with a spicy ranch. also you may want to try different things in your salad like crackers, chicken, cashews or almonds, pickle sllices.
