Well, they you might think that being a vegetarian is great because the fact that we don't hurt animals, and that's sorta the reason why animals become endangered. But other "non-vegetarians" say that we need to kill animals for body warmth and fat, and to use their fur. And by the way, it is healthier. In my opinion, I don't think God put animals on the Earth to eat. Why did God put humans? There's all a point in what is made. Make your cousins not eat meat for maybe a week or so and see how things work out.

I don't know why people hate on vegetarians. I recently decided to stop eating red meat, which is almost vegetarian, but people still look at you funny when you tell them that. I think a lot of people have it in their heads that all vegetarians and vegans are hard-core animal rights activists, like AnimalNazis or something (kinda like extremist feminists are FemiNazis). Some vegetarians are like that, some are just grossed out by killing things, and some, like me, are grossed out by the congealed fat that you see when you pull leftover meat out of the fridge =D. But I guess people have a problem with extremist veggie heads, and therefore connect that attitude with all vegetarians. Even I have a problem with extremist animal rights activists.

I don't know why your cousins would harp on you about your food preferences, but I personally don't have a problem with what other people want to eat.
My ten year old granddaughter decided she wanted to be a vegetarian, because she loves animals and doesn't want to eat them. We decided to support her, by educating her on what she needs to eat to stay healthy. We do not force her to eat something she doesn't want.
Just thank your cousins for their concern, and ask them to do some internet research on it. You know the sayings "live and let live" and "to each his own". Well you might try using them with your cousins.

I don't have a problem with someone being a vegitarian. I do when they try to point out that it is much healthier for me. Is your problem caused by them causing problems or by you causing problems because you are trying to tell them the way they and dozens of generations before them is wrong?
And I also dispute your claim that it is healthier. There are certain minerals (i.e. Iron, Calcium) and other things (i.e. Protein) that is very hard to get from being a vergitaerian. You do need these things to survive as well and taking a supliment for them isn't the same as getting them natually. Eatting fruits and vegitables has its advangages, but the other side has its advantages too. In fact a healthy eatting lifestyle would have you eatting both extremes in a moderate fashion.
And also remember for anyone else out there ... plants are living too. Just because they don't make noise or move in the traditional sense doesn't mean they arn't alive. When you eat a plant you are eatting something that is living just as you are eatting a lamb for your chops. I know the posted didn't mention anything about this, but I though it was something worth mentioning.

They might just think that it is weird or something. if you come from a BIG meat eating family...then it might make them feel like you are supposed to eat meat. I think that what you eat is a personal choice...i am not a vegitarian, but I don`t have anything against those who are. And in some ways...it is healthier to be a vegitarian. Just ask them to stop.

Some non-vegitarians are against vegitarians because they are old fashion and still dont believe that animals have feelings! NEWS FLASH THEY DO! They are jelous that we are loving beautiful people who believe in equal rights! We are all creations of god! All have feelings, we have blood, bones, nerves, organs. My advice, stop trying to make your cousins vegitarians because they are too stubbern and mind-set, isolated to listen. Remember karma! You are a good person, you shall recieve good.

I don't mind vegans at all. I think it probably takes a lot of will power to do it. I don't like it though when people get preachy about it. Just eat what you want and don't worry about what other people think. It's really none of their business what you eat and it's not wrong for you to tell them that. You're probably not going to change anyone's mind by arguing about how much better it is for you. People just don't want to hear it.

Some people just seems to have a problem with a lot of things. I call them "fussy farts..." a shink would say they suffer from "diminished insight." It is what it is. Ignor these people...they are just the neurotic, whinny and ignorant among us.
