These are all symptoms of panic attacks. Pains in the back, neck, chest etc. are from tensing the muscles from stress. Feeling like you are having trouble taking your next breath is hyperventilating. Breathing fast and through your nose causes it. You don't even notice you're doing it and suddenly, you feel like you have to make yourself breathe or you can't breathe deeply enough. You will never stop breathing. Our bodies are built in a way to prevent that. If we had to conciously make ourselves breathe, we would stop when we sleep. From what I learned, apparently, when you hyperventilate you overbreathe causing a dilution of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide building up is that uncomfortable feeling when you hold your breath. So that carbon dioxide will always force you to take that next breathe. So you will never just 'stop breathing'. Not trying to sound like a doc but I'm just repeating what I read in a book on panic attacks.

There have been some very unusual illnesses going around this year. It sounds much like what I and my son and mother had . My other two kids and my hubby nor dad had it.
I think it is a viral infection is why it doesn't show up.
I really can't say there is much you can do. Just keep your spirits up. I know it makes you feel like you are crazy especially when no one knows or can understand what is gong on!
You will be fine. Just do your best to stay calm. Eat very healthy. I ate lots of broccoli and spinache ate many fruits and yogurt+ took vitamins. It seemed to help my system get stronger.
I hope you get better soon. I had this ailment for several weeks. Just klnow, it will pass. You will come out a stronger person. And I imagine you will not have this so long. I had a few other symptoms with this as well... tingling on arms then neck and back.
The lung pains were scary. I had once had pnemonia ans pluresey before. This was unique and distressful. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Just get into your family doc and see if there are any meds to help. I kept thinking an anti-viral would help. It made me think of something like the shingles the way the pain was effecting my nervous system.
I'll be praying for you Elizabeth!

Umm ok child. The reason you can't breathe is you have been smoking and you have asthma. What were you thinking when you were smoking as an asthmatic? That is probably a great chunk of your problems.

Another thing, please punctuate and spell your questions correctly so we can read them easier and help you with it sooner. We're here to make it easier for you, so if you want that, then you will have to make it easier for us, because we don't anwer questions for our health, ok?

And what allergies do you have? Allergy season can activate allergies and make you feel miserable.

Blood tests, heart checks, and x-rays don't always diagnose the problem. It could be neuro, respiratory, or a variety of other things.

Why did you go to 10 doctors and a physician? You saw 10 doctors and none of them have helped? You obviously aren't seeing the right type of doctors if you have been to 10 unhelpful ones. Different body systems can cause different problems. And not all doctors are good at diagnosing all parts of the body individually. You might need to see a respiratory specialist.

Back pain is not really serious. You could just have a stressed spine. Maybe you should go see a chiropractor to get that taken care of.

This question seems very anxiety-driven.

I'm not sure if you are dying. I'm not a doctor (YET. I want to be a surgeon) so it would be unethical and unofficial to give you any particular answer there.

So, I would go see a doctor, and ask them what is wrong with you and what they can do to fix it.

@oras9874: prayers do not work. i feel it is bad karma.

May God be with you. it is hard to quit any habbit. ans withdrawl feels like you might be dying that is why it is so hard to successfully quit. Not only that smoking calms the nerves, and since you already suffer anxity attacks before you
stopped smoking they will be worse during this time. I feel for you I quit smoking four years ago so I could care for my termially ill mother. Its not easy but it was worth it. Good luck and God Bless I 'll say a prayer for u.

This is clearly a panic attack which can fell like you can't breath or you're having a heart attack. There is medication you can get from your doctor to help prevent attacks. Also when you're having an attack focus on your breathing and slow deep breaths in blow out slowly through pursed lips.

I am not a doctor, but I am someone who has suffered from panic attacks...and this sound like a classic attack.

They won't kill you! They are scary, though. When you start feeling this way, tell yourself it's just an attack and you'll be fine. By being scared, you make them worse.

The number one cause of a panic attack is the fear of having one! Talk to a psychologist. Good luck.

You should follow up with you doctor any time you go to the ER. Explain to him/her how you feel. It may be anxiety. He/she may refer you to a therapist and possibly prescribe an anti-anxiety med. Don't feel as if you are alone. Everyone at some point in their lives becomes over whelmed.
