People with hypoglycemia have low blood sugar. That is actually what hypoglycemia means. When you fast, your blood sugar drops even lower and that can become a life threatening emergency. One possible way to get around this is to drink pleny of fruit juices sweetened with sugar if that is allowed on your fast, however always consult with your doctor first.

I am a borderline hypoglycemic and I can tell you personally that fasting can be dangerous, because your blood sugar drops and you get an imbalance. Instead of fasting in the pure sense, try just limiting your intake of food to a lot of pure juices such as carrot, pomegranate, mango etc... and eat light foods that will help maintain your sugar levels. Eat celery, carrots, bell peppers, broccoli and various fruits. Stay away from a lot of starchy foods such as potatoes, rice, all breads and also eat tomatoes and a little red meat once a day. About 6 oz. of beef in the late morning, or early afternoon. I do this and have no ill affects and this keeps me from becoming totally hypoglycemic instead of just borderline. If you are a coffee drinker, stop using refined sugar and switch to turbinado sugar, or honey, or real maple syrup . Coffee won't hurt you, in fact it has excellent anti-oxidants in it.

People with hypoglycemia already process there active blood sugar quicker then others and have problems converting fat stores to usable glucose. So starving the body can cause serious injury and just make you feel miserable.

Because every time you do something fast your body demands more sugars and if you suffer of a condition such a hypoglycemia in which your sugar levels are low if you fast your brain will stop receiving sugar as a source of energy and can cause fainting.
