I love Sushi. It doesn't have to be raw fish all the time. It can include canned fish such as tuna, salmon. Some Japanese people even mix tuna with mayonnaise and sweet corn (the best!). Also, any vinegar will do, not just rice vinegar. I even know a Japanese woman who uses spam in her sushi, she calls it "salty meat". And I prefer to use sushi soya sauce, instead of the regular dark soya sauce.
I don't like battered cucumber, which she made for me one time. I pretended to like it. The battered mushrooms were excellent though.

I answer a question the other day about this in a similar way, I am a big fan of street foods like Yakitori and Takoyaki, as for hating something, when I was there and worked in Tokyo for 6 months, I never really found anything I hated, compare to North America the prices are extremely high, a melon we get here for $3 is almost $20.
So i stuck to the local small establishments foods, things like sushi, an omlette with potatos and green onins and a cold noodle dish at the soba bars. I had something called Natto a fermented soya bean product, a favorite at breakfast, it is sticky, slimy and not at all appealing to most people but very tastey.

I like them all, only the price of import of japanese food to the U.S.A. limits my dining out at my favorite hang outs.
