Veggie dogs appear to be more nutritious, I eat the brand called "Smart Dogs" which, for weight loss purposes, are better than regular hotdogs. They contain only 45 calories where the average hot dog can range from 150-400. They also contain 8 grams of protein per dog.

Depends on what you mean. They are healthier in that they don't contain some of the negative components of meat. On the other hand, they are NOT a health food. There is still plenty unhealthy about them.

In terms of weight loss... check the calories and fat content. I recently did a comparison of turkey dogs to veggie dogs and found that they were about the same. Both were lower than pork and beef dogs.

If you're looking to lose weight, there are better food products.

It's really a toss up. Both are junk food. Pure and simple.

When you hear all those negative stories about soy, it's one of two stories. Heaven forbid it's both! Number one - genetically altered soy. Number two things like tofu pups which are chemically altered.

Chemically altered means it gains a lot of toxins.

Boca products are the worst of two worlds. Chemically altered products made genetically altered soy.

That business about thyroid problems mentioned above - they forget to tell you it only applies to GMO soy.

Pure unadulterated soy is a boon. Good all around. The only soy milk to test negative for GMO is Eden Soy. Mori-Nu claims its tofu comes from non-gmo soy, but I can't find test results that back up that claim. Life Food is certified non-gmo tofu, but I can't find it in the US.

If you want to lose weight, give up packaged, processed foods. Buy fresh. Buy whole grain. Use products that are NOT genetically altered.

Contrary to "Jay" above, calories and fat do not make you fat.

Yes, if you're eating more calories than you're burning - you will gain weight. However, if you cut your calories, your metabolism will shut down. And everything you eat will be stored.

Move more. It's just that simple.

There are fats that are good sources of protein. Which means what your body can't use it flushes out. Don't take that the wrong way. I do NOT advocate bogus high protein diets. But an avocado is an excellent meat substitute. As are walnuts. Both being high in calories and fat. But both the calories and the fat are of the good sort! The kind that gives you more energy and cleans your pipes out.

Hot dogs are made of lips buttholes and eyelids..And A boca hotdog is made from Soy..If nutrition is your aim then Bocca away,. However note that you increase your risk of Thyroid cancer.

Lead paint chips are healthier than a regular hot dog.

PS: the thyroid cancer thing is an urban legend.

i had the same question recently so i compared the nutrition facts of your average hot dog and a tofu dog. the tofu dog was much healthier and it even had more protein which surprised me. and they taste exactly the same [at least i think so].
