I've never had veggie dogs, but I actually just got veggie ribs (I think Gardenburger makes them) and they're fantastic!
Real hot dogs aren't really meat anyways, so I'm sure that the right combo of veggies would be pretty similar in taste and texture.

i think they taste exactly like regular hot dogs. they are also healthier which is always good. i think the only way you would be able to tell the difference is if you have a regular hot dog sitting next to a veggie dog. veggie dogs are paler and sometimes oddly shaped compared to your average hot dog.

I haven't had a veggie dog in 6 years... it tasted too salty for my liking.
However, I recently tried Morningstar Corn Dogs... Those were very good, much to my surprise.

personally, i don't like them. the taste, smell, and texture are nearly identical to regular meat hot dogs (which i've always despised). i've found that most people who like hot dogs (especially children who are known for their picky eating habits) really like them.
my son likes them grilled as opposed to boiled, but i know lots of people who won't eat boiled hot dogs but will eat them grilled.

Not very good. I would go with veggie burgers instead.
