WOW, I mean WOW, that was the the first place I went to when I did my chef's apprenticeship in 1978-79, the old GBC culinary division was on Nassau St where the condo complex is.
We would go there at lunch, even though 2 days of the week we cooked the food for the cafeteria, but back then a bowl of noodle soup, a plate of rice and BBQ meat (duck, BBQ pork, roast pork or boiled chicken) was $3.75.
I have always found there meats one of the best, along with the Noodle House or Hong Fatts on Dundas and Huron, I lived on Huron St the first year at GBC, just above Baldwin, and yes the word "Yuen" in cantonese is "Yellow", the they been there so long most every one know them as the little place on Spadina.
