I just check my sugar levels last night after a dinner roll and a half and 2 small bits of cake everything else was protine and my sugar was at 167 when I tested 2 hours later. I have to mention that I was comming down with an infection in my throat. Could all this make my sugar go up?

I wish mine were that low! It's normal! I too have diabetes and mine runs in the 3 to 4 hundred range full time.
I use the insulin pen 4 or more times a day. I don't need insulin if I work hard enough, the level will be below 200 and under that, there is no need.
I stay away from salt because of high blood pressure, and no sugar. Most food use sugar as a preservative, like they do with salt.
Can't use aspartame, so I use the other one. But basically stay away from bread, beef, and anything that has carbohydrates. Carbs turn to sugar in the body.
You even have to be careful of fruits and veggies. Any prepared food will have no, no's.

Many medicines use sugar as a base. Read the label

Any kind of stress will raise your sugar especially illness. 167 at 2 hours is nothing to worry about. It's the fasting levels above 120 I think ideally below 100 and if 2 hour levels go over 200. IF it persists talk to your doctor. Fasting levels are the most critical blood sugar levels.

I'm sorry to hear about that but what the heck happened? How did he got to this level of blood sugar?? Anyway, the normal blood sugar level is, as said before, 60 to 90 and even 100. All the best for him.

YES! being sick can mess with your sugars. But still 167 isn't bad if that is your high especially if your getting sick.

My mom when I'll is over 400 and you know that is very bad. And when I'm sick I'm around 180.

You had a dinner roll and a half, and cake! Of course it will be elevated. Do some jumping jacks for 5 minutes. It will go down.

This is not normal but explainable. For the glucose to become normal again, you need to get over your throat infection.
