In OHIO. I am not cracking on vegetarians. I am trying to say that this is a bad business decision on her part. I live in Ohio. Yes, we have the vegetarians, but its not wide. If your fan of Chrissie, please let her know that. I am fan of Ohio, and I know that its not going to be successful. I know Ohio. She has a great idea, I would not put in Ohio tho. Ohio, is farmers. She should of done more research. Bad idea for Chrissie to do in Ohio? Your thoughts??

Sorry, I should of made myself more clearer. SHE HAS A GREAT IDEA JUST NOT IN OHIO. WHY? Ohio are losing jobs right and left. I encourage her bringing a business to it. Its just not the kind of BOOMING business Ohioans needs right now. I do give her efforts for trying it out. She can try it out. Organic is in. So, they say. I do remember the incident of the tainted broccoli.

I live in Ohio, and I would be really excited.
:)
As it is, I travel 40-50 minutes to go to a vegan deli I know of... not as often as I would like, but enough people must go because it is still in business and serving high-quality food.

If it is anywhere near the Akron area, I would definitely go and give her my money.

p.s. I have yet to see a farmer anywhere near me.
:)

Edit- I know what you mean about Ohio's economy and how many businesses could be doomed to fail; however, veg*ans tend to go out of their way to support veg*an products and businesses.

Unless the Ohioan lives in the Cincinnati area, he is not around many vegetarian and vegan options. Many will travel to go there. Non-vegetarians will probably go because it is her (and hopefully because she will serve great food), and vegetarians will go out of the excitement of not having to scrutinize the dish in fear that "vegetarian" on a menu might still have fish or meat juices or who knows what else.

She may fail, but I think she would have a good chance. Will she have as large of a customer base as CA? No, but it is time for veg*anism to spread its wings a bit.
:)

A comprehensive study published by the Vegetarian Journal says that 17% of the American population say that they are vegetarian. If true, then this should be enough to keep Chrissie Hynde's restaurant afloat.

If not all of the 17% claimed to be vegetarians even if they are not, it is still a good indicator of a growing market because they wouldn't claim so if they didn't think it was cool to be vegetarian. So right there is a market with big potential.

A lot of vegetarian restaurants have been around for decades. It is impossible to tell whether a vegetarian restaurant will succeed just on the basis of a claim that "Ohio has vegetarians but not wide". I'm sure that Chrissie Hynde has done her research before she invested her money in a restaurant.

And yeah, what is it to you if it succeeds or not?

I live in Ohio and I am a vegetarian. I'm totally excited that she's opening a veggie restaurant. I smell a road trip.....!

I know the overall dietary climate in Ohio is carcass, carcass and more carcass, but for the few of us who do not partake, I think this is cool. Vegetarians are known to support people/businesses who share our vision -no matter what. I think she might find success.
:-D

I live about 20 minutes from Akron and I can't wait to go there. It says its not specifically vegan, which I am, but I'm sure some stuff can be made vegan anyway.

I think you'd be surprised at the variety of people around you outside your social circle. I'm not trying to be rude at all .... but I'm all for people being exposed to new, healthier, food choices.

Out of the approximately 10 really nice people in the vegetarian & vegan forum, one of them is from near Akron ... so we do exist in Ohio!

I am from Ohio, and I think it will be successful. Chrissie is from the Akron area, so it makes sense for her to open up there. The restaurant opens on Sept. 15,and I can't wait. It will be a bit op a road trip for me, but I think it is worth it.

It might do well, you never know. I'm sure a lot of people would check it out. Lots of people who aren't vegetarian eat at vegetarian restaurants. It would be great for people with heart problems who have to watch their diets or overweight people who would like a healthy eating out option.

Nothing beats a failure except a try. I think it is wonderful that she is going back to her home town to give the people there such a great option. " GO CHRISSIE"!!!!!

what difference does it make to you? She doesn't need everyone in Ohio to visit, just a steady few.
