Whoever told you that is COMPLETELY wrong.

HPV and HIV are COMPLETELY different and have NOTHING to do with each other.

MOST women are able to get rid of HPV, but NOT everyone. Their bodies can sometimes "fight it off", but this isn't true for everyone. I have personally had HPV for 6+ years now. I have been tested (several times) and I do not have HIV.

Your HPV might NEVER go away. HPV is a virus and there is no cures for viruses. Herpes and HIV are also caused by viruses and have no cures either.

Hi!

No, it doesn't necessarily mean you have HIV.
(you may be confusing the fact that woman who are HIV+ and have high risk strains are more likely to develop cervical cancer and the cancer can be harder to treat than in HIV uninfected women....cervical cancer can be an AIDS defining illness in someone living with HIV)

HPV infections are very common (70% of the adult population will have had at least one HPV infection over their lifetime.*
HPV infections are often acquired early (15-19years of age) and the majority (>80%) of these infections will clear spontaneously within 2 years.**

That is why when you get an abnormal finding on a pap smear, even if there are lesions suggesting HPV, most physicians will simply keep an eye on it and wait as most will clear naturally.

If it doesn't clear, it still doesn't mean you will develop cancer. Even persistent infection with a high risk strain do not always progress to cancer.

HPV is a slow moving disease. So keep up with your doctors recommendations and continue to get pap smears to check the progress (if any) of the infection.

I had an automatic answer of NO!! that is not possible but I did some research and found no evidence that this is possible. R u a guy are girl? I saw that there isn't a test that can definitely diagnose a man. HPV can cause cervical cancer in women and anus or penis in men. I have attached the link where you can read about both HPV & HIV and see the difference

NO NO NO... That is not true. HPV is a virus, and HIV is another one. I don't know who told you that but is not true. Maybe, somebody overheard or confused because people with HIV can have HPV, and as their immune system is depressed, its really difficult to defend against any infection (virus, bacteria, parasites, etc). Go see a doctor to end up a serious treatment for HPV and get checked for others STD.

hpv is a virus and for SOME ppl it goes away on its own, some ppl will have it for the rest of their lives. the only way to know if you have HIV is to get tested, tomorrow, asap. having hpv goes not mean you have HIV, check out http://www.cdc.gov/std/hpv/default.htm

you'll feel better knowing more about what you have!
