I know what you mean, that must be really tough. Sticking it out in such an un-veggie environment makes you all the more dedicated in my opinion!
I don't have many close vegetarian friends in real life unfortunately, I live in a town where there's just not all that many - veggie friendly as it is. However, my partner is vegan like me so that makes a big difference - I sometimes forget how isolated I can feel with non-veggies and it hits hard!
That said, I chat to many veg*ans online and consider them mates! You really should check out some of the vegan communities around online - they're very supportive and just great. REALLY!
Support is so important.
http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/ is a great choice, I'm not an active member myself but it's full of veggies of all ages and reasons. Fun! Otherwise, try to google (or should I say Yahoo!) "vegetarian forum" etc, things along those lines.
:)

Tofu deserves a second chance! Make sure you use extra firm (NOT silken!!!) tofu. A tip is to freeze it, and then let it thaw out. It makes the texture more meat-like. Tofu should be fine on the grill. I've never actually grilled it, so hopefully someone else can help you out there. Tempeh is another great source of protein. I usually steam mine for about 20 minutes, but it might be ok on the grill, if you don't cut it up first. I don't have a grill, sorry I'm not really of any help. But now I want some grilled peppers, mushrooms and onions! Veggie burgers are ok on the grill, depending on the burger. Morningstar farms Grillers Prime are quire delicious, and very meat-like in my opinion. They are probably one of the better burgers for the grill, because they have a relatively high fat content (still lower than a real burger!) Veggie hot dogs probably shouldn't go on the grill. They are just fine if you cook them according to the directions, and then load them up with condiments. I had a grilled veggie dog once, and it was rather unpleasant. Good luck!

I have never met anyone who was a vegetarian or a vegan, let alone a raw vegan! I can't wait until I do!

Haha, almost all of them. I still talk to my roomate from OSSM who isn't veggie, but all of my college friends are and all of my extended family (that I talk to) is. My college friends are really odd though, I'm actually the conservative one. I have one friend who has been trying and trying to get the electricity shut off to her dorm room so she can lower her carbon footprint, and she also uses cloth, reusable maxi pads for sake of the environment and took me to the store where she buys them. I was not convinced.

I'm the "freakshow" in my circle of friends...haha. I'm the only one.
I do have a few friends who do not live in same city as I do and they are vegetarians, though.
