In addition to helping your insulin work better, cinnamon helps lower cholesterol and triglycerides. A whole teaspoon a day is unnecessary... a half teaspoon is plenty. Read more (including a link to the USDA article on cinnamon) on my diabetes info page where there are several supplements that could help:

I work in healthcare education and the Advanced CMA students test my blood sugar regularly as part of their class. Their instructor has agreed that 1 teaspoon of cinnamon a day can help control blood sugar. I've even seen this in healthcare news lately. Cinnamon has many health benefits. I add a teaspoon to my coffee each morning. Good for you!

Diabetes is usually treated through a combination of diet (low sugar), exercise and medications/insulin. Read here https://tr.im/5DNNl
Milder cases can be controlled with just diet an/or exercise while more severe cases require meds or insulin as well.

No we have not tried it but my younger niece lost weight and is walking a lot. Her levels have dropped. When I said she had lost weight you would not know her. I'll show both girls your message. Thank You.

^I'm glad it works for you. I use cinnamon every day, on my oatmeal and on apples, it doesn't work for me. What does work is cherries, fresh bing cherries. I don't remember where I read about it, but it works for me.
