Systole is the squeezing part of the heart cycle, when blood is pumped out to the lungs and body simultaneously. The pressure in your vascular system at the peak of that is called the Systolic Blood Pressure and denotes the amount of pressure exerted by the heart. Diastole is the resting part of the heart's cycle, when blood is flowing without assistance from the heart. The pressure in your vascular system at the depth of that is called the Diastolic Blood Pressure and denotes the pressure exerted by the tension in the walls of the blood vessels. This is when your heart gets it's oxygen and nutrients, when it's relaxed and can accept blood into it's vascular system. Both numbers, the average of the numbers (Mean Arterial Pressure) and the difference between them ( Pulse pressure - Narrow or Wide) tell us (healthcare providers) different things about what's going on inside your body.

You have two readings with a blood pressure systolic/diastolic. Systolic is the pressure in arteries when your heart contracts and diastolic is the pressure in your arteries when the heart is at rest.
Systolic ideally should be around 120 and diastolic around 70-80.

systolic blood pressure is the pressure reading taken during contraction of the heart. Diastolic is the reading taken when the heart is at rest between beats. So, when you look at a blood pressure reading of 120/80, the 120 is the pressure in millimeters of mercury of the blood in the vessels when the heart contracts, and the 80 is the pressure in millimeters of mercury when the heart rests.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Yes, you are right. Ventricular relaxation is diastolic. Therefore, the one with the highest diastolic pressure will have the highest blood pressure during relaxation.
