Yes. Try this.
(I must admit the statistics below are from more than 10 years ago, or so--but they make my point here well, and they are likely not too far off still, now--with some adjustment for changing and static variables?)
One US (richest country in western hemisphere) citizen uses as much energy in one year (per capita) as 300 citizens from Haiti (the poorest country in the western hemisphere).
With these statistics in mind, when I see a young woman (from US) walking briskly along, pushing her double-wide baby carriage, I can easily see 900 Haitian human beings, being happy!...within just three people...
When I think about larger numbers, I cringe and curl into a corner, dribbling my lip!--if I convert the entire US population of 300 million (+) to a Haitian lifestyle, I have an economy that will support 90,000,000,000 (that's 90 billion) human beings! Current global population is only just over 6 billion!
Can I justify my bringing 300, 600, 900 more Haitians into the world? Or is that, "Can I justify the reality of the unfair initial advantage, should I care?"....................OH YES!

Of course it would be. Every American produces 4 lbs of trash each day and uses 100 to 176 gallons of water at home each day according to the EPA. If you plan to have 2 children instead of randomly having 4, you will save the landfills from 2880 lbs of trash each YEAR and save from 72,000 to 126,720 gallons of water each year. We only did a water and trash study, imagine all of the fuel costs, bigger house, more development, and children of their own. Responsible family planning is definitely an important aspect of green living.

Only if you live in third world countries where they are having litters of kids. The birth rate of Western societies is already so low that we are NOT replenishing ourselves. For instance, the average family household is 2.6 people. People who can AFFORD kids are the ones who should be having kids, but its the other way around. In a few years, this disparity in birth rates is going to be a HUGE problem for our society.
