My friend told me whenever I go to a seafood place it would be alright for me to eat shrimp...but I told her since it was once living I wouldn't truly be considered a vegetarian... what do you people think?

A vegetarian doesn't eat meat. Shrimp is meat. Therefore, logically speaking, a person that eats shrimp is not a vegetarian.

Sorry to dissappoint you but shrimp is a type of meat and eating it won't make you become a vegetarian.

If you're a vegetarian because you're on a diet then I suggest you eat seafood more than red meat, like fish, shrimp, lobster, clamps, etc...

Eating seafood keep your skin healthy and young, also prevent the fat that other red meat has; and seafood is good for your body too.

But if you want to become a vegetarian not because you're on a diet then just eat meat once a while won't kill you and it doesn't matter what your friend/s say about you being a vegetarian or not.

A vegetarian diet is a commitment to a flesh free diet, so planning to eat seafood cancels out the title.

However, the label shouldn't be so important. What you are is a person who has removed animal flesh from their life for the most part and that is great.

I've heard there are some good veggie shrimp substitutes available if you feel like you may be making a total commitment, sounds like you're heading that way!

No you're actually not. you're a pescetarian, no longer a vegetarian in any respect of any type or sort. do no longer pay attention to the human beings who're telling you which you're a vegetarian. they do no longer understand what they're conversing approximately, sorry yet they actually do no longer. desire I helped. And being a vegetarian i think sort of obligated to permit you already know that while you're already a pescetarian you're able to besides substitute right into a vegetarian and decrease meat/cruelty out of your eating regimen thoroughly. this is basic.

I think you still would be considered a vegetarian. But if you want to describe yourself to others in the best way possible, you should say "I'm a vegetarian. But I like to eat shrimp occasionally."

I wouldn't worry about trying to fit perfectly into the vegetarian ideology. The haters will be offset by the people who appreciate your ability to not be a tightass about those sort of things.

Vegetarians don't eat seafood so if you ate shrimp, you are not a vegetarian.

You could consider yourself a vegetarian - heck, you could consider yourself queen of mars, but it doesn't make it accurate.

Your friend is incorrect. Shrimp are animals. Then, let her know that estimates are that 1000 sea mammals, like dolphins, manatees, seals, sea lions, etc, are killed EACH DAY because of the fishing industry (which includes catching shrimp).

Good luck to you! : )

youre pescatarian but thats ok u will be getting more protein...but many people call themself vegetarian and eat seafood so unless someone asks yes you can say you're vegetarian. just dont use "it was once living as a guidline" or u will have a lot of trouble fining stuff to eat because that includes vegetables

Don't get stuck by labels. Someone tomorrow might declare mushrooms to be non -vegetarian. Understand teh benefits and disadvantages of eating anything (also the taste) and eat what you want. Never have guilt about your choices after you have made that choice.

If your religion demands being a vegan, ask your religious authority if it is OK or not.

No, but at least you'll be eating what I consider to be the tastiest kind of seafood in the world. Woe to those who are intolerant to shrimp, for they are missing out on a good thing.
