I want to order Chinese (the take out kind, not the authentic kind, lol) for dinner, but I lost my menu. Other than the standard crab rangoons and fried dumplings, I don't know what I want to order. What is your favorite dish??

Pretty much every american chinese restaurant has the same types of dishes like General Tso's chicken, sesame chicken, beef w/ broccoli, shrimp w/snowpeas, moo shoo gai pan, fried rice, sweet and sour shrimp. I'm sure if you have eaten chinese before then you pretty much are familiar with whats on a menu. I don't even need to look at a chinese take out menu anymore because all the food is generic from restaurant to restaurant. They all have the same things. You could go online and pretty much look at the meny for ANY chinese retaurant and the place you are ordering from would probably have the same thing.

Moo Shu pork is pork and veggies that you wrap up in a little pancake crepe thingy, like a lettuce wrap but using the crepe thing.
Order:
Moo Goo Gai Pan
Hunan Shrimp
Orange Peel Beef
House Fried Rice

safe bets for chinese take out :
-pork fried rice
-lemon chicken
-beef and broccoli
-kung pao chicken
-stir fried eggplant with tofu
-tender steak with chinese greens
Moo Shu Pork = minced pork and veggies (bamboo shoots, carrot, celery, bean sprouts) stir fried in a light brown sauce, served with thin crepes. To eat, put a mound of the pork filling onto the crepe and roll. Eat like a fajita.
Other versions of this use minced seafood (crab, shrimp, squid) as well as chicken or squab - served with the crepes or big lettuce leaves. Fill, add some hoi sin sauce, and eat.

Hmm well I love Hot & Sour Soup- if you like somewhat hot things, that's worth a shot!! Or, if you're a fan of dumplings, try Wonton soup. As for dishes, you can't go too wrong- pick a meat you like (chicken, beef, pork, shrimp... lobster if you're in the mood for an expensive meal but I wouldn't really get that in takeout) and pick something like chop suey... if you like something lighter try asking for a dish with vermicelli noodles, which are very thin and light and I like quite a bit.

Shrimp Lo Mein is pretty tasty---especially if you're on a budget! I also like beef and broccoli and tofu and vegetables in a mildly spicy sauce.
