The general rule of thumb is that the skin is the most nutritious part of the fruit or veggie.
However, since most people don't eat the rind, unless pickled, then any nutritional information is based upon eating the meat (pulp) of the watermelon.
supposedly, the red part contains a lot of lycopene which is supposed to be a good anti-oxidant.

No. Pesticides are used heavily on commercial watermelons. I would go organic if you really want to eat the rind, but soak in biodegradable soap and warm water before you eat it.

Watermelon rinds are also edible, and sometimes used as a vegetable. In China, they are stir-fried, stewed, or more often pickled. When stir-fried, the de-skinned and de-fruited rind is cooked with olive oil, garlic, chili peppers, scallions, sugar and rum (and provides a great way to utilize the whole watermelon). Pickled watermelon rind is also widespread in Russia, Ukraine, and Romania

Yep! Watermelon rind is extremely healthy and the best part of the fruit. Buy an organic one, juice it up and see what you think. I couldn't stand it myself! The fruit itself is supposed to be high in lycopene (important for men, prostate). New research shows apple skin is great for cancer treatment and prevention - check it out.

If it's not organic, don't eat it. It's very likely that it's soaked in pesticides. So either go organic, or settle with the red.
