Its high and it needs treatment but it is not life threatening in the short term. If he is not a diabetic he needs to be tested and if he is already diagnosed he needs to discuss his control/diet and exercise regime with a health care professional. Long term high blood glucose is damaging to many areas of the body and can cause lots of complications.
Get him to see a doctor/health care professional ASAP

There's no immediate danger. Acute complications like hyperosmolar hyperglycemic non-ketotic coma require sugars over 600. But even loose control requires sugars under 200, so that number is unacceptable in terms of potential long-term complications.

My grandfather is a diabetic, and that is pretty dangerously high. Usually doctors want your blood sugar to be under 100. I would take him to see a doctor so they can decide the best way to help bring his sugar down. You definately don't want him to go into diabetic shock or anything. Good luck, hope he feels better.

It is abnormal. But, it must be done when fasting (not eating) if it is still that high then he probsbly needs a work up to determine if he needs to be on medication. If it is continuously like that medication and diet are essential.
