sounds like you're going in for a bronchoscopy. Drs. use a bronchoscope to go down into your lungs and see whats going on. They can also get biopsies, remove foreign objects and remove secretions this way. I've helped assist with this procedure many times and it goes smoothly almost every time! So don't worry...you're young and pretty healthy so things will go great!
I don't know if you'll say anything crazy:) But they don't really let you talk once the process begins. Medical personnel have seen and heard everything so I doubt you can say anything that will be surprising! The drug they use is usually lidocaine and it wears off pretty quick after the procedure is done.
Hope this helps...relax! you'll do splendidly!

My son is 16 and has had the brochoscopy(sp?) several times with no problems. He has also had 2 endoscopy's with no problems afterward. I think you need to talk to the doctors and really ask them about the side effects of the the sedative as different ones have different side effects. It is true, that you won't remember anything, and when my son has this done the doctors monitor his vital signs the entire time to make the procedure as safe as possible. I might add that he had his first procedure at the age of 10. Ask the doctors questions until you are completely comfortable with the procedure. Most doctors are very good at explaining and really wanting their patients as informed as possible.

its either a bronchoscopy or an endoscopy or a...this is fun to spell...esophagogastroduodenoscopy. :)

but don't let the words scare you, everything will be ok :) your doctors won't let you stop breathing. you will not die. every effort will be taken to make sure you're still breathing and your heart's still beating fine. so relax. :)

wish you could see what's going on. it would be really interesting :)
