I know there's already great ideas posted, but I'm still at a loss. Normally I would have a pool party here at the house, but in the last month, it has rained daily (We're in Texas), our house has flooded repeatedly, my sister-in-law moved in and his birthday is smack between two planned trips. Facing the house repairs, money is a bit tight, and with the rain a party in the park seems iffy at best. My only thought is maybe taking them to a movie and then for a pizza?????? Please help, was hoping for something just a bit more special.

Ideas so far are great, but I don't think will work 'cept maybe bowling....Outdoors is pretty much out unless we're going to swim in flood waters, indoor places are beyond packed, or at least that's what I'm finding... Sleepover would be the best, but we have no floor in our living room (Flooding) and the house is in a shambles.

I think your idea is perfectly fine. With your budget constraints, the turmoil your house and your life is in right now, that's more than enough to do.

He may still be a bit young, but I remember my FAVORITE birthday party (I think I was 12 or 13) was when my mom had a sleepover for me at the Marriott. (Her and another mother chaperoned). We went to the movies, then came back and swim (indoor pool) and pigged out on tons of snacks. The best part was, there was no clean up!

I think the Embassy Suites does something (or at least they used to, this was like 10 years ago) for birthday parties, because I recall several of my friends doing the same thing for their birthdays. I might have even read something about a "build-a-bear" package they do now..

The Transformers comes out 07/04/07 I don't know any young kid who DOESN'T want to see that movie, you'd be a cool mom for taking a few friends to see that! Burger King is doing the transformer toys so take them to lunch there and bring the cupcake cakes with you, its cheaper than buying a whole huge cake, some BK also have the play lands in them.

I'm 17 years old now,
I never had a birthday party.
but there are some suggestion for you
It depends on what the boy like to do.
,climb the mountains.have a picnic near the lake.
Go to the park is a good choice.A boy of 9 years old probably will like it.
Buy him some present.

you can go cheaper than that with him having fun. 9 is an easy age. rent action movies that kids like, make hot dogs on the grill, go to the dollar store and get everyone a grab bag, hook up a slip and slide in the back yard, get the hose out, some water guns, boys will be boys. but here is my secret family recipe, while at the dollar store get a cat litter pan, liner and scoop. make a box cake of any kind with frosting and place it in the lined cat litter box. crush a package of vienna fingers cookies in the blender and top the cake (looks like cat litter), add some tootsie rolls (the big kind and the small kind) and serve with the scoop!

If you have a planetarium in your area find out how much it costs for parties- many will provide a room to do cake in with plates, napkins, etc. as well as a group rate on the kids.

You can make cupcakes and frost with blue icing, them roll out gumdrops (I used Sunkist Fruit Gems) and cut out small stars with a fondant cutter to place on cupcakes.

This way he can have a birthday under the stars! :)

Do a sleepover. 3-4 friends, one night (and morning) of hassle, a few games. He will love it.
