I have US version down here, in Europe, everything is OK, just I had to buy power transformator 220-110 V. Games are region free. Movies and PS/PS2 games aren't.
US or Japanese versions are better, coz they have a special chip, which deals with PS2/PS games. Euroversion has no chip (Sony removed it in order to lower production costs), it runs on software.

I Would buy it in the UK if your planning to get one. Blu-ray disks and DVDs are region locked and PAL format disks will not play on an NTSC system and If it breaks then you can always take it back for repair or replacement under warranty. :-)

I know at one time you could buy a box that help convert your PlayStation to the Pal system. You might want to check out the Amazon.co.uk website for the converter. As for the DVD's your best bet is to buy a multi-regional DVD player. Also make sure to buy a Multi regional TV as well so you can switch between NTSC and Pal systems.

Should work for the games, Blu Ray discs I'm not sure. Also check your TV is NTSC or HD compatiable (just in case).

You might need something to convert the TV system to PAL (if it's not a HD TV) and/or convert the voltage from US 115v to UK 230v. Have a look on the power adapter and look for a label that says something like 110v - 240v 50/60 Hz. If it just says 110v - 120v 60 Hz then you'll need an adapter.
